I make cute sketches but I struggle terribly with translating them into lineless pictures. Time and time I switch back to lines as a crutch 😔
@savannahlazo3 күн бұрын
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with keeping line work in! If anything I want more line work in my art but I always end up covering it.
@EvanBear3 күн бұрын
@@savannahlazo The problem is that I much prefer lineless art where the lineart is covered, like this piece of yours😂 I'm still figuring it out, currently I'm doing sketchy lines on a multiply layer and then gouache underneath. I absolutely adore this painting in particular, it just feels so happy. That's why I'm drawn to children's book illustrations despite not wanting to do art professionally, they transport me to a happy place 😊

I have a similar story but replace the video design with graphic design.. got a diploma and was freelancing doing only corporate stuff with almost no room for creativity. I burned out and quit many years ago. Now I'm thinking of becoming an illustrator but I basically start at 0 again. I really like traditional illustration but I don't know if there's demand for it since everything is digital

I'm all about multiple revenue streams and find it super scary to just rely on illustration as my main income. I suck at all things animation/motion so think its cool you have that skill set and it will also help you standout as an illustrator.

Also, if you ever feel like giving step by step tutorials on how to achieve this look, I would be sure to follow whether it be here on KZbin, on Patreon, on Skillshare? thanks!

Hi Savannah, I stumbled across your channel because I’ve been working on my own personal book making journey. I loved your illustration advice. What also caught my attention was this video in particular. I completely understand what you’ve experienced. Especially since I, myself have suffered from the same social anxiety. It has literally petrified me in work situations to the point where I become physically ill and feel sick to my stomach. I really empathize with what you’re experiencing too. It has made me feel a bit like a third wheel in many situations. So, kudos to you on this KZbin journey. This is encouraging from me in where I am presently in my life. So thank you. 😊

Hi Savannah, first of all congrats on hearing back from some houses specially from some of the top 5. That is not easy to accomplish. They get tons of submissions and emails and only truly reply to what they feel is best of the best. So you should feel proud :) Also, regarding working with UK publishers, there is very little difference. The mayor one though is the budget. Budget for advances in books vary a lot between countries and no country pays as high as the US. I think would put UK and maybe Spain in second place and Asia in third. And another difference I’ve noticed but maybe it’s coincidence I don’t know but I’ve felt more freedom when I’ve worked with US publishers. The Art Directors I’ve worked with usually share a general idea or feel maybe but have given me lot of freedom in the creative process while the books I’ve worked with for the UK have had more dirección and more specs as to what they want. And I don’t think is related to how big the publisher is because it’s happened to me with smaller houses as well as big ones like Penguin for example, I think is more a matter of culture. Or maybe it’s been a coincidence hehe. I’m sorry about your mistake with the names in the emails I’m sure you felt embarrassed but I garante you you are not the first one who’s done this and I’m pretty sure they can’t keep track or remember who makes mistakes and who doesn’t. In a couple months they will forget. So don’t feel bad 🤍 Good luck! I hope you get your first book contact soon!

Absolutely love this video! This has helped me significantly with understanding modeling characters! Just as a quick question, how might one approach modeling legs? Do you apply a similar technique to that of the arms, or do you have a different process?
@savannahlazo3 ай бұрын
It is pretty much the same process as the arms, but you just have to shape the legs differently. Its honestly not even that different than the tail :) I would recommend extruding a straight cylinder down and block out the foot, then you can go back in and add edge loops where you need more control over the shape (like the knee). Hope that helps!
