If the thief does enter and realizes that the sensor alarm is not connected to a central security alarm system, still he can close the door or window quickly, steal whatever, and then a quick escape, with a quick opening-shutting of the door/window behind him, so the alarm stops making noise quickly when he/she enters or leaves the house...

I just put mine up. When i set it on alarm it sounds off constantly (thats with the door/window closed and it not being opened). In the off position it stops, but when i open door it does nothing. Seems to work backwards. Any advice? Thx.

Mine beacons when locked. Set the beacon to auto along with your preferred timing, and TX once manually to start it…then lock it. If you don’t TX the first beacon manually it will not auto beacon.

Thanks for this, I've been wondering how to take part in aprs thurstday.. Quick question though. If I would want to send myself (or someone) an aprs msg from my anytone 878uv II to my Yaesu ft5d what do I put in the widow "Input ID" Do I just put my call sign ? no ssid of -7 ?

My ft-2d doesn't do that. It also needs less taps to go to the aprs menus, because it has a bigger screen. I'm still waiting for a handheld that supports aprs and has a good front end on 2m, because these wideband receivers are useless in the approximity of other transmitters. 73 Stephan

I think that the radio is working exactly like it is supposed to. There are several different lock settings (Item 9 in the config menu): Key, Dial, Key&Dial, PTT, Key&PTT, Dial&PTT, and All. If Key, Dial, or Key&Dial are selected and the radio is locked, it will still transmit APRS packets. If any of the PTT or "All" options are selected and the radio is locked, the radio assumes that you do not want to transmit, and therefore will not transmit APRS packets. I tested with the FT5DR, and it will transmit when locked as long as you don't choose a lock mode that includes PTT. I assume that it will operate the same way on the FT3DR. There are lots of good reasons to not upgrade from the FT3 to the FT5, but I don't think that this is one of them.

What firmware version are you on? I am on 1.10 and that doesn't happen.

It's made in China..so sad. IR.used to be good..15 yrs ago..now just put together in the USA..I got rid of my old IR....3 yrs ago..nothing but issues..with the motor..and pressure switch..spent 3600. For a better unit ..made in the USA..not in China..or some other country..American iron..only in my book..sorry to see your troubles with your new unit..return for a refund..is my advice..good all American made..

IR has many issues need a magnetic starter..first, head unloadeds..unloaded.. the issue.
