Did you have to modify the hood to fit the Jake? I have a 923a1 5 ton with the nhc250 and heard the hood has to be modified to fit the hood xtra height Awesome truck you got by the way

@@CAT_Diesel , I created a low-profile valve cover out of a stock valve cover so I only had to trim the two stiffener ribs to clear the front valve cover and the road draft tube valve cover on the rear (didn't have to cut the main hood skin). FYI, the 25B jake head adds 2 5/16" in height. Here is a write up on it: www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/3-jake-heads-under-a-stock-m809-hood.195031/

My coworker said the Corps was still using them when he joined up in 2003 and didn't let go of them till about 2011. A 40 year service life speaks volumes about the trucks' build quality!

They really were incredible. Much better than the 923s, and those were pretty dang good aside from the CTIS which gave some trouble on occasion. Many a young Marine actually learned how to drive stick on the 813. It was that easy to operate. If you got a 5-ton stuck somewhere, you shouldn’t have been there in the first place!

Hey, fellow M813 owner here. Dumb question- on the rear and intermediate axles, is the flange cap attached/part of the axle when you remove it, or are they two separate pieces?
@m809er2 жыл бұрын
The rear flange is an integral part of the axle shaft (1-piece). When you pull it out it is attached to a shaft thats about 3 feet long with about a 2" diameter.
