@@ModBiz Thank you for the immediate response. I did what you told me and it didn't help. I was able to open it and connect internally and see my files. I must have a hardware problem. I connected it with the help of manhattan sata to usb and again the computer shut down. I tried a second time and it worked. I have Transend 1TB storejet 25H3, windows XP and motherboard ASUS P5VD2-MX. Sorry for my english, i am from Greece and i don't know the English language, i wrote with google translate help.

@@ModBiz I didn't have problem for many years until recently. My 1TB storejet 25H3 is usb 3.1 gen 1 and i have 2GB ram and windows xp and I could see my external hard drive with no problems until recently when after safe removal I put it back in the USB port and it wouldn't recognize it and I had to restart the computer to get it to see it again until I plugged it in and the computer shut down. When the computer was off and the power switch was on, on the power supply, the led on the motherboard was flashing when I plugged in the drive. I tried plugging it into a laptop and it didn't do anything, it wouldn't recognize it but the laptop wouldn't shut down like the computer.
