It's because the downspout adapter is not tight to the aluminum, allowing splashing water to percolate out the gaps

Normally we stock all these type items. I just stopped in at a local supply house on the way out to a job, I didn't want to spend time shopping around in the morning. I just think it is ridiculous that our local supply houses are charging us regular contractors with accounts there, they're charging us double what you pay at home depot. 😢

27 years in the electrical trade and I have worked with master electricians that I would not let wire my enemies houses and arguments that I've had about will it work yes but how long and if I wouldn't do it in my or my families home I will not do it at work... some people in the trades have the can't see it from my house or only has to last a year then the warranty is up attitude ya'll stay safe frosty and free

So you have surface gravel and debris (which is dirty) into I assume a fabric encased river rock open French drain (which has filtered water)? That is going to plug in time. Unless your are running two pipes under that French drain, one for the French and the other is a solid drain pipe that is going to eventually plug
