I am not sure why I can't get this done ( spline min 4:45 ), it would be helpful from now on to show us the presets of your setups before creating this educational videos. I believe it is something from your setups that you skipped and that's the reason I can't get this done. splines is the most difficult to achieve and I have even the Pro version of alibre.
@AlibreLLC5 күн бұрын
I appreciate your comment- the circle for the sweep was made at 2:00 and there are no cuts from that to the sweep. I don't know of any presets that exist that could prevent a spline from being made. We have a helpdesk to help people use the software, or if you can provide details as to what you are seeing it could help us understand your problem.

Remove Face is becoming a real useful tool in the Alibre. I likely wouldn't have thought of using it. Thanks for the tip! Sometimes I have an a fillet that Tangent Propagate doesn't work and I need to turn off previews and select all edges individually, but that is another issue.

@AlibreLLC just to clarify, the issue I have is not with complex geometry like yours. But on edges like when two cylinders meet that overlap. If needed, I can send a part when I have this issue again. Another thing I find annoying is the lack of "flip" on the Chamfer command when using angle-distance. I model a lot of parts that require oil seals that need a lead-in. To circumvent this issue, I sketch them in the sketch used to revolve/revolve cut There are only two major frustrations I have while I'm modeling pretty complex motorsport parts (gearbox and hydraulics.)

As Alibre changes these 3rd party applications need to follow. They don't always keep up... FEMdesigner is a good example. I'll generate a step and stick with PrePoMax. Preferably Alibre just includes an FEA and CAM package... I'm all maintenance up! Let's make it happen :)

Good video. How about a video that delves into creating parts in the assembly that has inter-design dependencies and talk about the advantages vs disadvantages of that. It’s a thorny subject because such parts are difficult to edit independently and can be frustrating to say the least. Also the origin point of such designs can be a nuisance unless there is some hacks that can be leveraged when making such assemblies. Thanks

When I build a new part based on another part in the assembly and use Constraints and keep association, and then move the parts in the assembly, the dependent part is destroyed by the movement. Is there a way to have Constraints that have "keep association" but still allow movements in the assembly - I may miss that option.

Using convert to sheet metal is a great way of sharing part files across different CAD systems. However, as shown at 6:19 in your video, you need to be careful when there are holes or cutouts that cross bends. It may be necessary to remove or suppress them in the original part before converting to sheet metal so the bend is not compromised. Then add the hole/cutout in the sheet metal part with an unbend/rebend as appropriate. Is Rip only used to trim corners? Seems like that is the only example ever shown for the option and a chamfer could do the same and be more easily editable.

A very simple workflow to get a great looking drill!!! Kudos!!! Great solutions for the flutes and split point
@PaulSteMarieАй бұрын
Meets all the requirements except actually cutting 😒 Without getting too far into the weeds, you need some clearance behind the lips so the drill can advance. That's what the crazy looking sharpeners from Sears and General did-they would pivot around and put a roll off behind the cutting lip. Oddly, i spent some hours working on exactly this a couple weeks ago. I never did get the tip quite right.
@AlibreLLCАй бұрын
Thanks for your insight. There likely is some geometric tuning that needs to occur. The statement at 6:55 describes the intent of the content- users likely have their own requirements, this is to display a workflow in the software.

I didn't think of using a slot, I used a circle. I used Parameters in the Equation Editor. I have two main params, Length and Diameter. I also did rough math for ratios for the Helical params. All that is needed is to enter Length and diameter and complete with a Save As. I did it for 1 mm to 10 mm in 0.5mm steps. Now I'm ready to design a drill bit box assembly.
