Good interview thanks. Jesus taught about the immanence of the kingdom, Paul seems to have been expecting it's arrival in his lifetime. Both he and Jesus were wrong. I love the ethical teaching of Jesus. To me Paul distorts Jesus' teaching. I don't think the tension between them can be solved. Just a quick point. Body blood language of Paul in 1 Corinthians.....would Jesus ever have used such language about himself? So weird. It's all too much for me. I stick with Jesus' ethical words.....it's far healthier that way

I am only a few minutes into this video, and already I have figured out why I like the Bart/Megan interviews so much: They let the other person speak without any comment at all! I know nothing about the gentleman doing the interview of Ms. Pagels, but his little grunts and words of encouragement are extremely irritating. They seem to diminish the value of Ms. P's words, in that without HIS encouragement, they might not get said. I am not expressing this terribly well, but am always delighted to find out why I enjoy one program so much while another that is literally the same falls flat. Silence is golden. Thank you! And it's a very interesting video! I have only recently learned of the gnostic gospels and find the whole thing fascinating!

Fair feedback. I like the conversations to feel more natural and less scripted and so I keep some of the mmhmm's and yes's and whatnots in there. Some people don't appreciate it. Some do. I have appreciated Darrell's poetry for years now; it's great to see him getting out to a broader audience, mainly through the technology of video ironically. His emphasis here on craft and humour is significant. Bitching about what you don't like does not make literature. As an 72 year old listening to these two youngish middle-aged guys unhappy with how things are changing I would say "Get used to it, it's a process without end, and despising it will not make it go away. Of course being my age I'll be quoting Yes and not Green Day...."You'll see perpetual change!"

This woman is sent by Satan, such a liar. When she talked about Mark 4 in another interview about the parables to the public, she said Jesus did not want the public to understand. She twisted the meaning of the Words. Maybe she is another stupid woman like Kamala Harris who just has a platform to express twisted ideas about God's words. God will deal with you, watch out

This was such a thought-provoking discussion! Darrell Epp’s insights on technology’s influence on our connections, creativity, and even mental health really resonated with me. The idea of looking for meaning in everyday observations, like a simple pine cone, reminds me of how much we overlook in the rush of daily life. His reference to Shakespeare and timeless themes in art also highlights the importance of stepping back from digital distractions to reconnect with deeper, enduring questions about our existence. I have to say that I greatly doubt that a 20th-21st century post-Christain scholar would understand what Paul meant with more accuracy than people who were far closer in culture and the milieus in which Paul lived and worked. I respect Crossan's general presentation of the general milieu in which Jesus, Paul and others of that time lived - though his views are only his and aren't universally agreed to. I am far, far more skeptical of his views of the specific figures he writes about. I just don't buy it, anymore.

I believe the book of revelation is not inspired by God and is another false attempt to fix one’s disbelief that Christ did not return in 70AD (the disciples generation) to judge those who were charged with killing the prophets and their savior. Daniel’s 4th beast was 10 horns + 1 little horn. This in history is from Pompey to Vespasian. Vespasian was the little horn that subdued 3 previous horns. After Nero… three died in 1 year and Vespasian became emperor. Josephus was freed by predicting that Vespasian would be emperor. Josephus was from a priestly family and knew Daniel’s prophecy concerning Christ. In 66ad they held a revolt in the temple against the Roman Empire. This revolt was the demise of that caused the destruction of the city and the temple. Many self proclaimed messiahs were involved in this revolt. Josephus records this in history. Christ did return in judgment after the temple was destroyed. He spiritually judged the dead and they were resurrected to everlasting life or eternal punishment. Heaven is now open!

While I am more of an empirically oriented person, a fan of F. Bacon and Voltaire,, who likes to mess around with the world and gets his scars from the environnent, I so much admire these spiritual approaches. My objections to these inner truths are, that they have nothing to do with reality and at the same time are too subjective and deceiving. Yet I know I might be wrong. Maybe the ego and will as Kant, Fichte or Nietzsche described them are much more of an illusion and do more harm than I am willing to admit. Luved your interview and your way of communicating! So important. Great guest. Appreciate your work! Thx🎉❤

Saint Perpetua had given birth in jail: and breastfeed her baby, before walking out to die. They are Saints because they chose Jesus Christ and not themselves: Read about them:
