I am sure the lower back muscles are used. If I fatigue my obliques, they hurt during riding. So, they must contribute.

Thigh and leg power alone has no torque unless you stand on pedal. Thus it makes you tired easily. Weights build, volume and mass . Cycling increases your endurance your stamina, your eyesight, especially at night and your speed . If you want more power just left weight and eat more calories

You dont need to do a lot of weight training to get the benefits of weight training. High intensity short burst. There are more health benefits for running. Mentally and o Physically. Chase running and do uppr body/ high intensity run t ...lower body/ recovery run (or even better elyptical / run)
