The 90s was a hell of a time in the raven party scene in Toronto. 49 going on 50 seems just like yesterday. This club has made many many memories and not only for myself but everybody else that was there. When the drinks were cheap. The girls were approachable. The party favours didn’t kill you. And everybody went back next week, smiling to do it all over again. Blue Ferrari green Ferrari triple stack XXX purple if you know, you know.. Mark Oliver with the Saturday night special has burned permanent memories in my brain. I can hear two or three notes of a song and it takes me back 20 years God bless be safe .

Travelling to and Experiencing the Guvernment was spiritual. Only club I've ever been to where I actually felt home and safe. Mark Oliver the resident dj typically outshined the headliner. Imagine the crowd refusing to leave, doors open 7 o'clock August Sunday morning sunlight coming in, Mark Oliver having to perform 2 encores because he's that good and the club was that fantastic. Most fun I've ever had. Thank You, thank you, thank you.

Guv was my first exposure to the real electronic music scene. Marko Liver's consistent slaying was just world class 💯💯 what a club!

Mark Oliver is one of the best live dj's I've ever seen. Many nights he was better than the headliner

Being 27 years old, this was the era right before I really started to party and I can’t help but feel I missed out on a magical time in Toronto…everything has been sold to commercial development and corporate interest with no soul or character. On the bright side, there’s been a huge resurgent rave scene in the city which I’m glad to be a part of

Believe it or not, I was the first DJ to perform at the Guvernment night club. It's a little known fact, that while Mark Oliver played opening night on the Friday, I played a fashion show for Agnes Pec's Gotterdammerung label the night before on Thursday. True story!

Remember when you could sit for free? The guv had all that sitting area where you could chill and catch your breath before continuing. A by-gone era

lol. the sound in the guv was either banging or absolute shit. no in between. they always way over filled the venue. had some great nights and some horrid nights. far too many times the headliners would play mtl friday and then show up to the gov on sat and be so high on drugs they could barely function.

RPM is what made that spot legendary. As a big party venue, it was kinda wack, sorry...it was suburbia on the weekend, the mall crowd. Industry was my spot, amongst many others.

I can tell Khabouth had Rebel probably all figured out at this point. He must've made ridiculous money off the sale of the property to condo developers and just moved the revenue stream he had from Guv to the docks. The guy's life should be a case study in MBA programs.
@TheRealMrGuvernment Жыл бұрын
They didnt own the land, it was on lease and the city decided not to let the Guv renew it cause they wanted condo's instead.
