That fuel pump sounds terrible. Probably has rust in the gas tank which has gone through the pump.

You get one chance to buy something truly special. I found a Roadster D Australian delivery for sale at DUTTONS in Burnley St. Richmond for $45K in '86 when l was 27. Wasn't able to raise that amount, even though l could have sold part of the VW collection to pay for the blue 💙 356.

I miss ours! Carolina Yellow if I recall correctly and highway mpg was 54! 44city and 47 combined. Ours had the sharks tooth interior on the seats.

I grew up in the back seat of that car. Same year and color. Awesome vehicle. I used to sleep on the back shelf while on long trips.

Put the gear stick in neutral then pull it firmly towards you, then up. Hopefully you've got it sorted by now but just in case :-)

These were the days when Oldsmobile WAS an Oldsmobile. I owned one of these for over 20 years. Olds began the slow descent the moment they began making the smaller cars...eventually galloping off into the twilight zone & Olds was no more. The only pet peave I had was those dreaded plastic " fillers" between the rear fender & the bumper...thanks to GOVERNMENT INTERFEARANCE with their stupid five mile an hour impact bumpers! On the open road I could get 18 mpg out of the 455 cubic inch engine. Not bad for a car weighing around 4800 LBS. It was like riding along in you're favorite armchair at home. Bumps in the road? I never felt them. It was like riding on a cloud. NO COMPUTORS or other such stuff that would cost you you're bank savings to fix. Big , heavy, these things sat on the road better than you'd believe. The only modern car that comes anywhere close in quality & a comfort ride is the Lincoln Town Car....& we all know what happened to THAT!!

I lose my mind if I own this ride. Whatever I took it out for a ride I would be dressed to the nines. I once owned a 64 Impala super sport. This bad boy here is on a whole nother level.
