hahaha maybe this works with a new issue cot but all the surplus cots I've come across this doesn't work. I wonder if the old cots have been wet and sun dried causing them to shrink or have been taken off and washed and dried. Either way, what I did to both middle sections is took the screws out and cut 3/4 inch off each side with a hack saw, leave a 1/4 inch gap between the square tubes when reinstalled into the hinge just like they where, re-drill the holes put the screws back in and my cot goes together and comes apart with ease now. It's really easy to do, just be sure and look at the middle section before you start the project shorten each side and put it back together, also look at how much you need to take off by trying to put it together. My first cot needed 3/4 inch of each side but my other cot only needed 1/2 inch off each side.

Normally you see MP's doing this to us outside our barracks moments after a four/three day starts. Cool to see them practice on non grunts for once lol

Advice for people about to go: 1. Use a piece of cardboard and cut it to 7"x7" or whatever the standard dimension is for clothing in your wocsop. Makes rapidly setting up your display a breeze, as you can fold your shirts and stuff around it and ensure they're the right dimensions. 2. For room discrepancy cards, use one of the 3x5 (or whatever wocsop says) cards and create a template card with everything written in the right spot. Then cut out those written sections so you can overlay that card over any new cards you have to make and automatically have your spacing be perfect. We got cards ripped off every day or two and wasted way too much time on them. 3. Make like 20 extra name tapes and just stick them on the inside of your binder or wherever. You'll need them as old ones get dirty or get messed up by cadre. 4. If you want caffeine or some other life-improving request for the class, write a memo requesting it! Don't just assume you can't do it. You lose NOTHING by submitting the request. So many classes missed out on privileges or changes to plans because they never bothered to request them.

I have a litefighter. I love it. I bought one for personal use too. However... as cool as that cot is, I'm not carrying that thing anywhere if I ever get issued one. I often still choose my sleeping bag and bivy with a mat and the old BDU poncho to cover my head. Saves weight and space which makes all the difference in keeping your ruck light, setting up, and packing quickly. Stuff it all in a sack and move.
