This gives rise to what i always thought. And i dont bed fish as result. I follow tournaments for bass but hate when they bed fish.

Love this! I’ve been trying to target these things for years, but never really figured it out. Small hooks pinned to lead might be the answer. Might try tomorrow in the Mississippi!

Caught a MS river smallmouth last year on nightcrawlers- it hit lighter than a logperch. Kahle hook completely covered up, finally set a hook. Caught a bigmouth drifting half a worm once- same light bite, but I was quick on the trigger. Dad got a bigmouth on a pink crappie tube last summer.

Why use a drop shot when you can use a bobber instead??? Plus you can adjust the depth as needed, can't do that with a drop shot. Drop shot rig is OK but don't be fooled by this, have fun and use common sense and have fun just fishing and enjoy yourself like you did as a kid, it's just fishing.
@bent54347 күн бұрын
Argument for the drop shot is that it won’t move away from the fish since it’s on the bottom and it adjusts to any depth. Wind can move your bobber out of the strike zone
@jivinmiles63526 күн бұрын
This is such a goofy comment. Sure fishing is fun and that’s what it should be but fishing EFFECTIVELY is way more fun.

Great detail when I was younger and even to this day I go to creeks to see if i can catch these overlooked colorful fish I also wade clear streams to look for log perch and darters I find these fish as exciting as catching shovel heads or bass thanks for the video 👍

Another video that claims to show "all the common sunfish" but leaves smallmouth, largemouth, and rock bass out of the list. Say panfish, if youre unfamiliar with sunfish.

Trying to get my knowledge of natives up to snuff. I can id fish from all over the world but i get stumped with natives lol. Growing up it was blue gill pumpkin seed or green....also generally known as catfish bait. Its past time for me to know better. Loved this video and will be plowing thru your others as well. Thanks a million for the awesome work.

This needs to be titled, or at least included in title, the best video for step by step knot tying. This has helped so much.

How would you factor in buoyant plastics (Zman, mule fishing, etc)? Obviously they would impact the play height, with it vary with the ratio of size of plastic vs size of hook. But are there situations where you would avoid buoyant plastics, or situations where you would specifically seek them out?

Can you discuss Elassoma? I have been obsessed with them since a child thinking they would be perfect aquarium fish.

In Austria people released the sunfish into the wild. Now they are in most big lakes in carinthia and are a big threat to our native perch. They have an extensive brood care and even attack human when you go near their nests

nice series. my favorites way for sunfish is dropshot big nightcrawlers and beetle spins. tend to get the nicer fish with those.
@bankfishingislife548422 күн бұрын
i love drop shot i do a variance though and instead of tying the hook on like this i do a surgeons loop knot. for some reason i just love that way a lot more. for bass or bluegils. nice vid. i like to use nightcrawlers the most.. and no lie ill put big full ones on to draw the bigger fish if im going for just bigs. or you can just pull them into small pieces if that doesnt matter.
@bankfishingislife548422 күн бұрын
next time you need to rent boats on bigger lakes during the spawn and then try to catch some big ones of each. nice skipjack those things are so much fun to catch at the dam. i use em for bait for commercial catfishing and you can get em 4-5 at a time with a bunch of jigs tied on with white curly tails. they are like mini tarpons. bluegills are fun because they dont take a long time to bite if they are around.

Still watching the video, but I'm trying to ID a fish based on memory. Thought it was a pike back then but I'm getting back into fishing and the memory of the event sticks in my mind. I've found however that pike don't seem to have the same teeth I remember. Same body type, think it was kinda silverish but the main thing was I was reeling my line back in with no bite, got the lure back to me about a foot and some change over the water when suddenly a slender long fish dove up out of the water and snatched the lure with what I remember to be 4 very long curves teeth like mammalian canine teeth, top 2 were probably 2 inches little under and the bottom 2 were shorter, then the rest of the mouth had a line of tinier same shaped teeth lining the jaw. I can't find anything with the same tooth structure, muskies looked similar and sounds like they pull aggressive stunts like this, but even those teeth don't match what I remember. Ik my memory might be skewed a bit over the years but the teeth were the first thing I saw coming up out of the water I'm pretty sure they're how I remember them to be

This series has become one of the most valuable things I've ever watched, the knowledge that has been imparted onto me through these videos has caught me tons of fish and more importantly created countless fun memories! Koaw, I am incredibly thankful for all the experience you've accumulated and work you've done for the community. Personally my favorite way to target sunfish, nothing beats either a size 10 black woolly bugger or mule minnow 1.2 on a 1/80 ounce jig tied to a tenkara rod! The control you have over the presentation is precise and the fight is so fun, its hard to beat. Also surprisingly easy to cast around brush using slingshot casts.

Very much appreciate the kind words! Also, thanks for sharing what you like using. I've starting using the Mule Minnow as well--it's pretty fun.
@slimmdogg420Ай бұрын
A dropshot would work well too. You might even use a floating fly on it to suspend it a few inches off the bottom.
@KNFishingSmartsАй бұрын
Nice thought of a fly on a drop-shot.
@slimmdogg420Ай бұрын
I have been using tiny flies on a Zebco 33 Micro on my channel. It opens up the possibility of many more smaller fish. I rig it exactly as I would a cricket. A small bobber above a splitshot and a fly below that.

I’m a huge panfish guy. Crappie, red ear, bluegill and perch are my target species 90% of the time besides for four or five trips each year up to Erie for walleye, and a few trips down south for saugeye. The #4 Gamakatsu hooks are the hooks I use 90% of the time. I absolutely love them and have no need for any other.

I can appreciate that. When something works very well, why use anything else? Thanks for sharing!
