Wonderful teaching brother! I am continually astonished that your videos don't go viral. This is such a needful topic that you are teaching! This video inspired me on a little tangent through the book of Philippines this morning, that i would love to hear your thoughts on. I just counted 37 times in Philippines where the world "thing" is used and it occurred to me that Philippines is a book about "things" with a crescendo in chapter 4. Be careful for nothing (no thing) Anyway, love the teaching! God bless

Thanks for the encouraging words! I think one reason my videos don't get more traction is the people who enjoy them generally aren't the type of people who share things online. They just listen and move on. Regarding Philippians, you have to be careful drawing conlusions about an English word like "thing." Most of the time, when you see that word in an English translation, there is no equivilant word in the Greek. It's just a way the translators are trying to make smoother English. "Be anxious for nothing" is a good example. It could be translated "Not at all be anxious."

I'm no longer pastoring a church at this time. I do preach once a month at a Bible study in my home in Dacono, CO. We just started 2 Peter. We have a potluck followed by the Bible study. You are more than welcome to come to either or both. If you'd like the address or more details, please send me a text at (720) 593-9985 or email here: www.treasuringgod.com/contact

So if we look at Ephesians 6 through the lens of acting on the good anxiety and rejecting the bad anxiety it gets very interesting Ephesians 6: 13....having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Yes! All those times when Jesus warned us, "Be alert! Stay awake! Watch and pray!" - alertness to danger is exactly what the good kind of anxiety is for. The one who goes into battle with lackadaisical apathy and complacence will fall.

Hi Darrell! I just found your videos and I just wanted to say WOW! The way that I found you is that I teach bible in drug rehab and last night I Googled "executive function bible" and found your wonderful teaching! I just want to encourage you to keep this up! You are doing great brother! I'm in the early stages of writing a book that follows the first four chapters of Genesis, that is geared towards leaving with people in rehab. I would love to chat with you about such things. I’m going to see if I can find your email address and try to contact you later today. What you are doing is rare and very needed!

You're very welcome! I have written a book that expands on the material in these sessions. Right now I'm working on the cover. If you have a minute, would you take the poll and give a zero to five star rating for each of the 8 cover ideas? You can find the poll here: 99designs.com/contests/poll/972b1aba94. Which book cover would you be most likely to pick up?

Different, I enjoyed it. No suggestions yet... Maybe prepare as though writing a letter to the newspaper in response to the article/issue you're addressing, and it would not be edited. Concise, to the point, knowing that your audience is somewhat scripturally literate.

This was great but you focus 85 percent of the message focused on the negative but not on how to live the God pleasing life. That doesn't help. It adds to depression. Please focus more on how to live then not how to live.

I think these are wise words if people are not dealing with serious anger and emotionally destructive comments from a spouse. You describe disagreements over “small stuff”. What is your counsel when you really made a bad choice but you are both Christians.
@DarrellFerguson

There is much that can be said about that, but the short answer is the most important part is repentance and forgiveness. Here's a sermon series that will help with that: foodforyoursoul.net/sermon/?ser=74 If there is reluctance to forgive, it would be wise to bring in a third party to help reconcile, like Paul did with the two godly women in Philippians 4 who were at odds.

This sermon talks only of church, but what about unbelievers? Do we go to them and confess if we've sinned against them, words, actions? Also, I've watched numerous videos on confession, this one is exceptional in how it is explained.
@DarrellFerguson
@DarrellFerguson 11 ай бұрын
James 5:16 specifies confession to "one another" within the body of believers. That's especially important. But yes, it stands to reason that if we have sinned against unbelievers, we should confess to them and seek their forgiveness. We should do that simply because love demands it. But confession within the body of Christ is more than just restoring relationships. This passage calls us to do it for the purpose of healing. God uses other believers to restore us spiritually after we have sinned.

Appreciate This sermon, on pride, these things the Lord has founded to my soul through his spirit many years ago, even though they're still, I should say, pride is still a formalble enemy that is difficult to Defeat and I know you're still working on things about loving God as we all are and somehow never seem to be accomplish but always wanting to find or should I say understand
