My sense of water baptism in the name of the Holy Trinity is to get a person into the body of Christ. This can be at any age, and this is to promote enlightenment and repentance. This involves the self examination that is mentioned in the story of the prodigal son, who had a death and resurrection experience. Here, problems from self indulgence arise, which reminds me of enrollments into things such as alcoholics anonymous, a drug rehabilitation program, a reform school for juvenile delinquents, or even a state penitentiary. These are not the programs commonly included in a resume. Baptisms are usually done by a priest, as he commonly deals with confessions of sin, elementary teachings of Christianity, and issues of self indulgence. OTOH, confirmation comes later with the laying on of hands by a bishop, and this pertains to the receiving of the Holy Spirit for the exercise of spiritual gifts within the body of Christ. This exercise of abilities and special talents is commonly associated with the gaining of abilities associated with a college degree or a certification for employment. These are commonly listed on resumes, and bishops are the ones involved because they are more concerned with filling in the job billets within his diocese. To me, the function of a priest is likened to the function of a high school chemistry teacher, while the function of a bishop is likened to the function of a high school principal. If there is a chemistry teacher vacancy, the principal will be the one to worry about hiring a person with chemistry expertise. If there is a difficult chemistry question by a student, the teacher will be the one to determine the answer for the educational purposes of student learning.

In a town i am familiar with (i am Catholic) there are three Anglican Churches. Their Cathedral, St. Luke, and Christ Church. At the St. Paul Cathedral, and at St. Luke, the clergy were called Priests, and Father. But at Christ Church, they were called Mister. One of my friends was the Assistant Pastor at Christ Church. I would call and ask for Father Michael. The secretary would angrily correct me and say Mister (and his last name,)

Note for anyone looking at this video… The 2019 Book of Common Prayer (BCP) is NOT sanctioned by The Episcopal Church. It is the BCP of the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA), which is a splinter group that promotes regressive views towards women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and more. While this information is mostly helpful in understanding how the daily offices work in general, the 1979 BCP is the ONLY sanctioned prayer book of The Episcopal Church. Note also that ACNA is NOT a part of the global Anglican Communion. The Episcopal Church is the only organization in the US to be a part of this larger body of the denomination.

What a beautiful statement, all based on the Bible. But same-sex marriages, abortion and all kinds of sins, why does the Anglican church somehow close its eyes, especially in the West. Isn't it possible that Protestantism, including the Anglican Church, has become more sinful than the Catholic one. Ok Anglican Church she has autocephaly, but why does she allow such blatant acts to heaven, only believing that a doctor does not have to accept Caesar's law, which is hers. Out of all the falls, the service of women in the church represents the total fall. The Protestant churches say what they say, but it still happens I submit to the state. To prevent persecution. Protestant spirits can only resist in conflicts but I don't know at the moment I see a fall and I don't see any recovery. God must not be changed as others say. Who will be ashamed of Christ and I will be ashamed shame on him.

I haven't been part of a "high church" since I left Catholic, which also has stand, sit, kneel in 1981 until I started attending an Episcopal Church this year. Our congregation doesn't kneel anymore due to a significant portion of the regular worshippers being seniors or having a disability

I'm not Anglican but I very much appreciate the fact that the prayers are in the we/us first-person plural so that the whole church is kept in mind. I think one of the things that we, in the West, tend to do is focus on individualism and our independence and we forget that the body of Christ is the church universal. We should keep the whole church in mind. After all, the Lord's Prayer is also in the plural form, too. We need to get back to that.

@@chrisfindley9037 The Ordinariate is always there if you should decide to come back and maintain Anglican patrimony. “The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.’ . . . On him [Peter] he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed, the others were that also which Peter was [i.e., apostles], but a primacy is given to Peter, whereby it is made clear that there is but one Church and one chair. So too, all [the apostles] are shepherds, and the flock is shown to be one, fed by all the apostles in single-minded accord. If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith? If he [should] desert the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he still be confident that he is in the Church?”- St. Cyprian of Carthage (The Unity of the Catholic Church 4; 1st edition [A.D. 251]). ordinariate.net/

@@DonaldKitchell-rd9kl The Catholic Church is the Body of Christ. It has been so since Jesus Christ established it in 33 A.D. The great diversity of contradicting Protestant doctrines stems from the doctrine of private judgment, which denies the infallible authority of the Church and claims that each individual is to interpret Scripture for himself. This idea is rejected in 2 Peter 1:20, where we are told the first rule of Bible interpretation: “First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation.” A significant feature of this heresy is the attempt to pit the Church “against” the Bible, denying that the magisterium has any infallible authority to interpret Scripture. This doctrine of private judgment has resulted in thousands of different Christian denominations and quasi-Christian splinter groups throughout history. If you are a Lutheran, your sect was founded by Martin Luther in the year 1517. If you belong to the Church of England, your sect was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to remarry. If you are a Presbyterian, your sect was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560. If you are Episcopalian, your sect was an offshoot of the Church of England founded by Samuel Seabury in the American colonies in the 17th century. If you are a Congregationalist, your sect was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582. If you are a Methodist, your sect was launched by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1744. If you are a Unitarian, Theophilus Lindley founded your sect in London in 1774. If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your sect in Palmyra, N.Y., in 1829. If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your sect to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1605. If you are of the Dutch Reformed church, you recognize Michaelis Jones as founder, because he originated your sect in New York in 1628. If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865. If you are a Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your sect was born and to Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy as its founder. If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as 'Church of the Nazarene," "Pentecostal" "Holiness Church," "Evangelical," "Jehovah's Witnesses," your religion is one of the hundreds of new sects founded by men within the past century. If you are Catholic, you know that your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ Fortunately, we have Christ’s promise that heresies will never prevail against the Church, for he told Peter, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18). The Catholic Church is truly, in St. Paul’s words, “the pillar and foundation of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15).
