Janny is the absolute best, enjoy and cherish those beautiful books!! Love hearing your thoughts on Perdido, it's been one of my TBR veterans for soooo long. And ooooh gosh how I feel you on Arcane. I loved the grittier, more character-focused approach of S1 a lot more than the crazy philosophical stuff we got in S2. Lots of the emotional beats didn't really hit for me because everything felt so rushed and I simply could not wrap my head around all the lore and magic as someone who is not familiar with the League of Legends at all outside of this show. Still enjoyed it and looking forward to more shows, but it was definitely not the second season my heart desired lol.

@@esmayrosalyne Yeah, Perdido Street Station is just great Weird Sci-fi Fantasy. You should definitely read it! And so sad to hear you felt the same way as me for Arcane because yeah it just didn’t click. Especially with what they did with Vi (gah she makes me so angry). But here’s to hoping the other series go back to that character focus they had in season 1 (and season 2 episode 7)!

...We Are The Dead... 🤔.... short chapters... yessssssss..... I will be picking that up soon! This video just nailed it into a higher priority... after I read the Last Argument of Kings... and maybe my reread of The Lord of the Rings...
@CombativeRoboGuy28 күн бұрын
@@amy_harboredinpages Oh man those are some great reads- Last Argument of Kings will knock your socks off and We Are The Dead is definitely worth your time. Now important question: what is the best of the Tolkien works? Hobbit, LOTR, or Silmarillion?
@amy_harboredinpages28 күн бұрын
@CombativeRoboGuy picking one is so subjective. Because each has something special. LoTR... It is the only set I haven't reread, probably because I have been scared that my feelings would shift. I didn't read Tolkien until I was an adult in my twenties. I've always felt The Hobbit is a story for his younger siblings and children. It was the one I started with, as it was the most familiar to me. I remember watching the animation when I was a child. My besties' husband loaned me LoTR and the Silmarillion as well as some D&D books because he believed I wouldn't finish Silmarillion... he was wrong. Where LoTR was darker themed , and the friendship, fellowship, and honor also very prevalent, the Silmarillion is added back stories, history, and origin story. The words he melded to create the languages I found impressive. Listening to the audiobooks on rereading with the voices from the movies like Andy Serkis and Christopher Lee... chefs kiss. Obviously, I love Tolkien. That being said, I can totally understand why it might not be for everyone. But this fantasy reader wishes there were more Tolkien stories! Come to think of it.... mayhap, we have gotten more because I can see his influence in so many of our favorite fantasies today.
