Hi there, Thankyou so much for your comment and kind words. I will do my best to answer here, and maybe answer more in depth in some future videos 1. Desexing in my state with my organisation is the law, unless selling to another breeder we must desexed before they leave for new homes. Early desexing is very safe and becoming more common practise throughout the world. They actually grow larger as adults once desexed. If left entire, many male cats spray and roam and are only really happy when they have females cats to mate, they don’t often make good pets. They often stress and find it difficult to hold weight. Female cats if left entire can come in heat as early as 4 months old and until they are pregnant, they will call, and spray. Being in heat constantly also puts them at risk of pyometra which can be fatal. They have a much better chance at a happy indoor pet life as a desexed cat 🤍 2. Oh I think this is just out of habit as I used to have a play tunnel in the middle of cardboard scratchers. I can certainly put some play things in the middle in future 😊 3. Yes, they are born in a bedroom, I sleep in that room at least the first few weeks, so a human scent is present from a sec early as they know. There is some genetic factor to their personalities, but I do find being in either them makes an amazing difference. 4. Most mother cats are a little freaked out during their first litter. I think maybe you may have been referring to Pocket who was a bit more freaked out than others. They often settle down and the second litter is much easier for them. But sometimes yes we do desex after one litter if the mother cat is just not suited to it. Pocket was desexed and lives a happy pet life now ☺️ 5. Hi there, Great question and it is a varied answer. Ragdoll Adult weight can depend on a few different factors; desexed/neutered, bloodlines, quality of food/life. Desexed cats are always larger then if they were left entire. Often once I desex my breeding cats, particularly males, they will gain a lot of weight and if desexed from a younger age they tend to be bigger in general. Bloodlines come into it a lot too as ragdolls with larger cats in their pedigree will usually be larger. Generally, ragdoll breeding females range between 3.5kg-7kg and desexed females range from 4.5kg-9kg. Stud males can vary even more from 4.5kg-10kg…some are larger. Desexed males are often the largest and can range from a smaller 5kg-12kg…. Huge variation, the breed is meant to be large, and sadly we are losing some of this size as many breeders are choosing trendy head type over body conformation. My largest breeding male is Usher at 8kg give or take, my smallest girls are Fufu and Rice at 3.9kg, they are young and still growing. Ragdoll can take 4-5 years to reach their adult size.
