Thanks Malcom I met him about 45 years ago at a concert in Frankfurt, Germany. My dad was a friend of Malcom, hence the invitation to the concert. Malcom was an amazing person dedicating his love and energy to music, Mozart, his family, and Christianity. I assume that he was “taken out” by members of his former religion. This happens regularly with important people, who are “too good” in the eyes of the evil forces who rule the (western) world. It’s some sort of ritual for the evil forces. Such “rituals” tie them together. Can I prove this? Obviously not. But once you have discovered how the evil forces choose their victims, you can find the pattern.

This is the best piano performance ever. Nothing can beat this. I don't remember Nikita Krushchev smiling so much in appreciation for having attended the concert.

Женя Кисин с его "певучестью " рядом не стоял. А кто-то писал,что подобное исполнение-это стук по клавишам, попытка разломать рояль.

The greatest of the great pianists. He entered into history that night . It's so moving. Tchaikovsky and Van Cliburn. I like to think that the greatest Russian composer was with him that night. 😢

I was in high school when he won the competion. it was a big thing. One of my great losses is that I was born during the cold war and was denied knowledge and beauty of Russian art. I am sad that we have gone back to the Cold War. What is happening is not Russian, but Putin.

Van Cliburn won Leventritt prize in 1954! Weissenberg won in 1949! Itzak Perlman won in 1964! Tcskikovsky 1958 Second prize winner Lev Vlassenko won weak Liszt competition in 1956! It was critic writers cris! Why New York papers do not claiming before Tchaikovsky 1958 that Cliburn is the favourite! Beethoven Symphony no 3 first playing it was not the greatest ever symphony because audience and critics loved other symphonies! Sibelius violin concerto came popular after 35 years when Heifetz record it! Same story Tchaikovsky competition in 1966 critic writers loved Victor Eresko calling him new Busoni! Russian audience and growds loved Mischa Dichter! Only Emil Gilels knew More Great piano playing and gave first prize to Grigory Sokolov!

Not True! Dimitri Bashkirov her teacher Anastasia Virsaladze teach saying to Bashkirov the most important lesson is the love of beautiful colorful piano sound! Beethoven wanted louder instruments piano fortes! More colorful beautiful piano sound than Cliburn=Wilhelm Kempff Emil Gilels Radu Lupu Artur Rubinstein Vladimir Ashkenazy Grigory Sokolov! More genius than Cliburn=Sviatoslav Richter Solomon Cutner Grigory Sokolov Maurizio Pollini Stanislav Bunin Maria Grinberg Murray Perahia Alexei Lubimov Dinu Lipatti Stanislav Igolinsky! More powerful louder than Cliburn=Mikhail Pletnev! The Second Loudest ever was Lazar Berman! The 3rd Loudest was Erwin Nyiregyhazi! Horowitz his technique attack better than Cliburn's technique! Cliburn won Leventritt prize in 1954! Lev Vlassenko won weak Liszt competition in 1956? Why new york critic writers wrote that Cliburn is the favourite! Why this story that unknown Cliburn was suprise win! Weissenberg won Leventritt prize in 1949! Itzak Perlman won Leventritt prize in 1964!

Van Cliburn was the reason I became obsessed with classical music. My parents had an 8-track tape of this performance. I loved how passionate it was compared to the other music out there.

In 1971, I attended an outdoor concert at Ravinia Park in Chicago, I took along a nice young lady on our first date. I forget who was to be the scheduled performer, but while I was arranging our blanket and wine glasses, an announcer apologized that the scheduled performer was not able to appear, but they were happy to announce that as a consolation, Van Cliburn would perform the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Tchaikovsky!!! Some consolation! I never saw the young jady again, but my love of Mr. Cliburn's performance endures to this day!! Bravissimo!!

PS I will NEVER subscribe to KZbin Premium, because the site is untrustworthy. It has no transparency around enforcement of its policies, which seem arbitrary. If it blocks users, then let creators squawk when their earnings drop through the floor.
