MAN!!!!!! You got a subscribe!!!!! The grappler types are my favorite and they usually don't get enough play regarding beat em ups compared to the other characters. I have never seen Max played like this. I don't know what your schedule is, but I hope you play more Beat em ups and upload more in the future. I'm going to watch your playlist front to back as I have all those games and will use to give me ideas. Awesome work!!!!

Great work against Jubei there! I'm relearning the game with the new Steam release and had it in my head that he easily evades all grab attempts, so it's good to see you going full grappler and flinging him all over the place.

Thanks! He was my most hated fight for a long time. He can still easily end my runs when things go wrong. Get those grabs and damage in early before the minions arrive.

@oldmanburly Yeah same! I made short work of him in the time attack mode but lost a credit to him in the normal mode soon after. I love how easily some of the fights can slip away from you even when you know what you're doing. :D

@@Klatrymadon Thinking on it, perhaps Jubei is the only fight (aside from the final boss) that you have to manage your attacks. The other bosses you just want to get in there and mess them up! And you're right, it can all go south very quick. It's honestly a masterpiece of a game.

@oldmanburly Absolutely! It's certainly my favourite beat-'em-up. I love its unassuming depth - it doesn't advertise that it has any 'tech' but there's so, so much to sink your teeth into. The remake is even subtle about its exciting new additions - the juggles in particular feel like they were there all along, probably because they aren't silly corner infinites or whatever. They're just a way for a creative player to eke out a little bit more damage if they want to. It's also, despite still being a full hour long, one of the few beat-'em-ups that doesn't massively outstay its welcome, imo. :p

@@Klatrymadon Fully agree on the length. Each stage never outstays it's welcome. The character diversity is also one of the best out there, with each playing very different...and one of them a giant mech taking up most of the screen!

Finally!! I love the original SNES version to death and consider it one of the best beat 'em up of of all time!! Now with Steam release I finally have a chance to play an even better and improved version of it!

What an incredible run! And just below the time limit for the trophy on Hard mode, super impressive stuff. You rarely drop below half health; it's really obvious how skilled you are at it watching you rip through crowds. I love how crazy the hitbox is on the nunchacu, they hit so far behind you!

GG on the run! The blocks don't show up if you move to the right as soon as you start the final stage. Interesting to see that this port gets rid of the slowdown, makes the gameplay way smoother than the OG.

Good to know! In all my playthroughs, I've never actually got the walls to come out. I suspect it might be related to the hatder difficulty but I'll check again. There's definitely still some slowdown in this version, but interesting you say it was worse on the OG. Hamster are usually known for going with accuracy over than improvements.

No idea what's going on with your missing blocks in the final stage? All I can think of is it's down to being on a non-default difficulty but their removal makes things much easier, not harder??!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIese4abpbZ5jbM here's my 1CC on the PS4 ACA port on default difficulty where the blocks exist & kick my ass as expected

Yeah it's weird, isn't it? I'll try a default run when I get back from work tonight to see. If it wasn't Hamster porting I would've said it was a flat out error. Couldn't find any Very Hard difficulty runs online to compare.

@@oldmanburly I was actually just coming to comment on this, it was so weird seeing no wall of death at the start of Mission 4! Is it possible Hamster actually removed this due to being so unfair? Maybe it's something like Halley's Comet where there's a scoring glitch that's so broken you can counterstop in stage 1, so they used a newer version of the game that fixed it, but they still have a non-default option you can toggle to re-enable the glitch. Maybe Hamster's version disables the wall by default cuz the wall's dumb but there's an option to re-enable it? edit: there's a run from the Switch port that shows the wall of death in action so maybe it is because the difficulty's non-default? kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH-6eKmngpyKkKM Weird, it's a mystery.

@@BareKnuckleRoo It's definitely possible. Someone told me that if you immediately walk right at the start of the stage, it will disable the walls. i don't know how accurate that is though. I might give a test tday.

Just missed a Murphagator do a Very Hard run on Mister, but some in chat were saying the walls didn't come out. So I think it doesn't happen on the Harder difficulties.

Thank you so much! The Anthology collection suffers from lag - I remember playing and really noticing it on stage 3 with it's jumps. Yes, this is the Hamster port. Hamster title their ports as ACA Neo Geo or Arcade Archives. They do great work.
