I see sparrows, blue Jay hogging the camera, magpie, morning dove and still watching for more 🥰 Edit: I see the Robin too 😊

This is funny! Usually magpies are the ones mobbing bird feeders.

My house finches leave their sunflower seed feeders to mob the woodpeckers at the suet, then peck half of it away. 😅

Every spring the Robins seem to come back north (I'm Canadian), just in time for one last snow storm. We help them get through until food is available by feeding them cut apples. We have shrubs with berries as well, but they really love the apples.

Blue Jay has bad timing. Magpie took most of the peanuts. Flicker eating unshelled peanut. Little birds and doves eating other seeds.

Robin was very pretty. I thought they ate fruit and bugs. Blue Jay has a fluffy butt.

Lack of mates or food possibly pushed it out there or it may simple hitched a ride in a vehicle it shouldn't have. Many possibilities.

Flicker is very handsome. Magpies made off with 99% of the in shell peanuts

It's not often that you see a bluejay patiently wait for its turn. Corvid recognizes bigger corvid.

Finch and sparrows able to get food. Magpie and blue jays scarfing. A few doves and starlings. Flicker is pretty. Robin tried to come (I think) but blue jay flew in too.

If you haven't been to the Tamarack Brewing Co. in Lakeside, and tried their beers and possibly More importantly the cuisine, it is a Must! I recommend their 'Bleu&Brie Burger' it will probably change your life for the better.

Ok, what have we witnessed here? A native species ( the jay) being chased off a feeder by an invasive species (the Starling). Multiply this little scenario by like a million times and one can imagine how the Starling, an aggressive species native to Africa, has displaced so many of our native birds. Which bird will eat tonight? Answer: probably not the jay.
