The Prayer of all those kneelers in Church today: "Lord make me nouveau riche" Ian Dury was a contemporary of John Cooper Clarke. Ian has gone, sadly, JCC is still at it.

Clever Trevor: A brilliant song that that'd never get air play in these Woke times of the 2024s In fact, I'm not sure that any of Ian's lyrics would get past the Wokerati

Still had it a year before he fell off the twig. Not sure he was "Punk". Just a unique musical talent who epitomised East London Pub Bands in the '70s

One of my favorite bands, exceptional musicians with phenomena like Mister Roy, one of the best bass players ever, I'm writing from Italy where I saw them many years ago and then thanks to a very dear friend of mine in London in the original lineup, one of the best many concerts that I have seen, long life to all these guys, a hug to those who are unfortunately missing.❤

I don't believe he was ever a punk. It's just that his management didn't know how to promote him so decided to lump him in with the emerging movement.

I've been a big fan since buying New Boots and Panties at Rasputin's in Berkeley in the late 1970s. It is such a treat to see his performances. I have always loved the funkiness and melody of this band and Ian's real wit combined with an intense feeling for the people he sings about. I remember the first time hearing the song My Old Man, it brought tears to my eyes.

Hearing this music in the 70's as young teen.......and then putting Frank Zappa on the turntable.......maybe I was a little bit more 'hip' than my peers. Watching this til the end.....got me a little misty.

Thank you. I remember watching this when it was broadcast. Norman Watt Roy encourages me every day to be a better bassist (I've only been playing 35 yrs) so love hearing that Jazz bass high in the mix 👍

Ian was in my humble opinion, one of the greatest poets up there with Jim Morrison man !!, he was unique he could never be put in a musical movement ect etc.

It’s one of those concert programs where they have decided that some songs are seen as ‘less’ than others, so they have no shame in interrupting a song just to talk about the very song their interrupting. They did this here with JSG which I love. Also they do it in that awful macca film Back in the US when they talk over ‘freedom just to talk about it. Pointless!!!
