I'm glad in this one I didn't tag you in T1. I'm so sorry about the later race when I gave you a knock at T1 and sent you into the pit exit. I honestly thought I'd given you enough room, but clearly not. So sorry for wrecking that race - I know it put you back into trouble and got worse from there. I owe you a pizza or something.

Instead they stop and go back and forth talking - this is way better!l This one is another tough track.. actually, they're all difficult to get the time down. @@piltdownfilms Ha! Good one. I don't think I really noticed the car being different this season at first, however I have definately been finding myself struggling to be more on the pace. My best time at Mugellow right now is a 1.53.00 - 8/10ths off your time! I'm on the edge too much and make mistakes.. Maybe I should change my car color to purple? Maybe you know something I don't know.. 🤔
@piltdownfilms
@piltdownfilms 16 күн бұрын
@@MarlonFamilton Purple car definitely helps :) But more seriously I just practice a lot. I look at what the quick times are going to be and set a target of like 102% of that time and after getting there try to get as far past it as I can. I know I'm more than likely not going to hit this best time in a race. I think this is partially subconscious as when I'm doing my practice laps there isn't a huge consequence for overdriving or crashing (just hit the reset button and I'm back at my reset point), but there is a part of the back of my mind that won't let me push that hard in a race. Hopefully all the practice will let me back off a bit and still be somewhat competitive. The other thing is I've gotten relatively ok at saving spins and whatnot so that when I do make a mistake it's not quite so devastating, at least most of the time... Sometimes it still is but I think on the percentages I do okay.
@MarlonFamilton
@MarlonFamilton 16 күн бұрын
@@piltdownfilms Yeah, I absolutely noticed how many laps you did. I think I have about 20 at Mugello and you had over 100! For sure that shows in your driving. Saving spins.. @@MarlonFamilton We did a couple hours on stream the night before in a hosted as well, but I had a horrible time concentrating and couldn't get under 1:54. There is a certain point where I hit and things start clicking and it's time to optimize then I get to a point of diminishing returns. Very track dependent. I don't know if you know about the two foot magic method of saving a spin, and I don't know if it would help you in the scenarios you're having but I did do a video on that kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2LbiXtpYrepbrM you do have to get it before it gets too bad. Nice win! Can you share how you have your clutch setup for such fast launches?
@piltdownfilms
@piltdownfilms 17 күн бұрын
Thank you! I use a dual clutch. You let go of the right clutch paddle and it drops the clutch to a preset point (I have it set to 45%) then you open the left paddle at a more reasonable rate so you don't light the tires up. I think in one of the recent patches this ability was added to iRacing so you can do this with a button you bind. I think it's on the first screen (but don't quote me on that) and there is a slider for the percentage you want the clutch to drop to and then you would just let out your clutch pedal like regular.

I think it has something to do with the regenerative braking. I’m not sure I’m the best person to ask for advice on this, I can only talk about what I do and my channel isn’t that big. I think trying to be consistent with uploads is important, think about things you would search for and watch, try to cover some “evergreen topics,” in addition to whatever it is that you’re doing currently and I’d look at areas outside of sim-racing for inspiration as well. If you just stay within the bubble it can become a bit of an echo chamber. Hope some of that is useful.

Ugh. Spa. Ended up being a solid race for you. I can't seem to get through a race at Spa with less than 9x. I think I'm subsconsiously working my way to rookie class. I was shocked we both made it through the first corner on lap one unscathed. Early on I thought I might have been able to get past you - seems like you're rightly cautious on cold tires. I knew you were faster though, and I might mess it up for both of us. As it was, I was happy to be hanging with you albeit by my fingernails. At least, until spinning into the last chicane. And, it was downhill from there. There's a bright side coming though.. something to build safety points. Bathhurst is next!
