Stephen, Larsen quit using VEC last year. The company that makes Larson boats, Genmar Holdings, also makes Carver and Marquis. In 2017 they closed the Larson factory in Minnesota, bundled up all 100 employees and moved them into the Carver/Marquis factory in Wisconsin. VEC (which is a form of resin-infusion molding) makes a REALLY good product but it's got two huge drawbacks: it costs a lot of money to get into it, and you have to sell a lot of boats to justify running the process. A VEC system can produce one hull per hour. Now for the best part: the man who invented the VEC process sold it to the man who owned Genmar at the time. He only installed it in one of his factories - the one that made Larson boats.
