I would think if you exhaled and held your breath for a short time during the O2 break it would enhance the hypoxia component of the treatment.

I am 79 feeling great having quit caffeine, and all smoking, plus sugar, excessive starch, and fried food. Mid life I did physical work. I eat lots of vegetables (avoiding potatoes, starch) and veg protein with occasional egg and meat and fruits (avoiding banana, starch) for breakfast. Chick peas, mung, black-eyed peas, lentils and other soaked and the cooked low GI legumes are my basics. I use olive oil and butter but no frying. I meditate. And was once a Yoga teacher. Worked the building trades for 20 years. Started smoking (cigarettes) at age 9!! Totally flexible and walk uphill without any breathlessness. Dean Ornish was a student, I think, of Satchidanana Yoga.

I'm disappointed to say that a director like this is not aware that most, if not all, studies showing a mortality reducing effects of metformin are due to time related biases. See studies from prof Soussa, such as: Metformin and the risk of cancer: time-related biases in observational studies

Nowhere in AGE LATER does he mention breathing. ..says "as we age, there are areas of the body, particularly the brain, that dont get enough blood supply, an therefore not enough oxygen". Hypoxic breathing floods our system with oxygen and restores balance. Why complicate when simple will do??

Koreans Japanese Sardinians Blue Zones and others with longevity have come from generations of intermittently consuming edible items not common to the packaged food consuming cultures. My friends mom moved back to Korea after being in the USA for 20 years. She’s become blind and had lost her ability to walk. Her 2 childhood friends from Korea have zero health issues at 96. The USA thinks we are so advanced in healthcare but it’s the complete opposite. Genes is only 3%. Those cultures eat pork, fish, organs, hoofs, noses, heads, meats and birds of all kinds. AND plant food prepared in a particular way to make them digestible. Have for centuries.

Yes, recovery can take time. I'm investigating other modalities in parallel to the hyperbaric treatments I'm undertaking. These include GlyNAC (to increase glutathione), NAD+ IV (or NAD enhancers like B3 derivatives), ExoFlo exosomes via IV drip, and TPE (therapeutic plasma exchange). All of these have shown promise in healing from long COVID and other diseases. I'm very excited for hyperbaric!
