You seriously need to wear gloves when working with these kinds of chemicals. You should never mess with the vacuum side of the carb. Leave the diaphragm alone. Clean the fuel side of the carb, Yes absolutely, but don’t touch the diaphragm unless you know the slide is not moving. Its almost always a bad fuel damage and thats all in the float bowl. Pulling out the float pin shaft is done with a small drift. Jets should be cleaned on a parts cleaner and small wires or pins can be used to dislodge fully clogged jets. The mixing tube should be pulled and verified clean especially the pilot jet.

HOLY CRAP... No WAY... the FIRST valve shim I needed to do, there have been three since, I started to loosen those bolts you JUST said (minute 19:35) NOT to loosen, and then tightened them back up, BUT........................ I now have NO engine compression. 45psi when WOT tested. Until you said what you said here I assumed, because I had removed it prior to needing to do a valve shim and losing compression, it was the decompression tube removal (it was the ONLY variable I could pinpoint). NOW... after hearing you say what you said... could it have resulted (loss of engine compression) from me loosening a few of those bolts?

Is your ruckus stock? Can you put mnnthbx sp exhaust for stock ruckus?

Just got done cleaning the card....it would not start this spring.....the idle jet was plugged...used a guitar string to clear it.....then sprayed carb cleaner...and voila....fired right up.

I have a mint motor, down side is a stripped spark plug hole. Comtiplating on swapping heads from a parts motor or should I just tap and die... I never tapped threads before

I believe it was the battery. My son uses it the most and his rides are typically short. Great explanation. I tested the battery and it was only registering about 12.4 V. I bought a replacement battery that is registering 12.7 and has been reconnected to the Ruckus. Still won’t turn over. It tried a little when I first connected the new battery but that seems to drain all the life. Now nothing. Thoughts?

I bought a ruckus but its mostly a toy for me and i never go over 10mph just ride it in circles around the house. Today it didnt wanna start and i had issues turning it on last weekend. Im gonna try recharging the battery sometime this week and see if that solves the problem. I noticed that everytime i pressed the on button the engine would turn over less and less as if the power was going down. I suspect its the battery. Its a bummer that the battery won't get charged if ur not going over 20mph.

Hallo get life, I’m planning to repair my spark plug hole with an threaded insert, so that means taking the cylinder head off. I have an 2009 model Honda zoomer (same as the ruckus I think, but I live in Europe so it’s called a zoomer) with an injection engine. Is this the same model, or is taking the head off your model here the same as mine? I hope your video is helpful for me. Grtz

I thought it was the battery, went & purchased a brand new battery, brand-spanking-new, still my Ruckus will Not start. I am going to check fuses, if that is not the case, replace the stator next. PS, it was a blown fuse after all.

I get how the enthusiasm and motivation can kinda wane a little bit after a while. I had big plans of upgrading my mini bikes with exhaust and carbs, etc. Just lost interest for some reason. Hopefully the groups will keep the spark alive.

Use this info on all motorcycles( except electric) and lawnmowers. I have quick connects on my harley and lawnmower too they all get plugged in and the tender checks and charges them. Double checked with meter and it's only a .1 v discrepancy

great info...helped me understand my starting issue. Still not solved - looking like a new stator is needed...but helped me understand why it made the battery go bad. My daughter rides it, and almost never goes over 20 mph. Got a battery tender for it now to hopefully save $ on future dead batteries.

I really hope no one does this. You didn’t even install a filter. You’re allowing all sorts of debris in your motor as well as allowing a lean condition since you didn’t re jet! I hope none of your susbscribers make the mistake of trying this
