I did Basic at Benning in the early 90s. My DIs were thieves. They did an initial shakedown and take our stuff and never gave them back. Before Week 7, they'd get lax and let us make PX runs. Of course we'd buy things. Then they'd do another shake down and take our expensive stuff we'd just buy and never give them back. You know darn well it was a scam setup and they would keep these things for themselves.

I went to basic at Ft Sill 30 years ago and my son is going through basic right now at Sill. Soft. Good thing he was raised right. Like applying for a job now through a temp service. Weak.

I did basic and AIT there in 1992. It looks so much different now. We had old wooden buildings then during reception. And there was a lot more screaming.

- back in the 80's my friend said on his first day in the army they filled their duffle bag with dirt and had to run 10 miles - hope you marshmallows are up to the challenge

Very soft compared to mine from nearly 50 years ago. We wore uniforms from day one. When we went to get them, they were thrown at us by grumpy civilians who didn’t give a damn if they fit or not. No A/C. August in Missouri. Up at 0430 and lights out at 2100. No women. And drill sergeants, all combat experienced from Vietnam, called us everything but a child of God. There was one I thought for sure was insane. Kept talking about, “do that in combat piss ant and Charlie will cut your balls off,”. Real nice guy.

We are deeply disappointed that the Met would further spread confirmed fake news about what's going on in Palestine. Confirmed fake by the White House itself. We expect better and more fact-based journalism from *MetMedia [edited for clarity] . Not coverage that attempts to give justification for the ongoing genocide in Gaza on the Palestinian people who are occupied. Your coverage does not mention the death toll of Palestinians, it does not mention the illegal use of white phosphorus bombs, it does not mention the Nakba and the following 75 years of racist dispossession, torture, and murder of the Palestinian people. You should reflect deeply on how your coverage of this issue gives support and ammunition for those carrying out a genocidal colonial settler project.
