I would have to disagree about active participation. The Dialogue Mass was the practice (depending on the geographic location). The laity would participate by singing and saying responses.

Thanks for your clarity in presenting what could be a very convoluted topic. But I am not convinced that this was a wise move by the council. It sure sounds good: conscience, religious liberty, no coercion by any religion, equal status for all religions including the religion of atheism. The Catholic Church WAS unique in that its founder made it clear that he founded a Church, picked a leader to start that Church, and St. Peter did not hesitate when he was asked, “What must we do to be saved?” He answered them with, “You must be baptized….and that day some three thousand were baptized.” For 1,965 years the Church taught truth and condemned errors. Protestantism is an error and in Protestantism is the demise of Christian America. We will soon awaken and discover that that cherished freedom of religion and conscience were killed by those who strayed from tradition and decided that conscience based division instead of conversions were the answer to problems of pluralism. I’m not one who believes that the work of nearly two thousand years should have been found inadequate simply because the mission of evangelization is tough work. The Catholic Church is or is not guided by the Spirit of Truth? The changes in Nostra Aetate and Dignatatus Humanae indicate the Spirit of Truth changed his mind or that flawed thinking prevailed. Which is it?

The incredibly negative tone surrounding the Church's doctrine of the fullness of Christ's presence in both species of the Eucharist along with the almost positive characterization of Luther as the first successful "reformer" is concerning to say the least and betrays a lack of real historical understanding in this video. 1. Spillage of the host in the form of his most sacred blood is worthy of concern, and it's logical the Church would take steps to reduce that risk. 2. Unworthy reception of communion is a sacrilege and STILL is a sacrilege. I don't know why we should find it odd that medieval Christians were aware of this erred on the side of caution rather than being one who "eats and drinks their own damnation" as St. Paul puts it. 3. If we believe that Jesus Christ is fully present within the host, then there is nothing wrong with practices that recognize this fact, specifically "Ocular Communion" as it's termed here. Corpus Christi processions, 40-hour benedictions, and other forms of Eucharistic adoration show just how much reverence was given to the host that there was an understanding that grace was given to one who merely viewed or was physically close to our Lord in the host. Lastly, the final disgusting implication of the video, that Luther was the first successful of 100s of years of "reformers", makes me shudder to consider who these other attempted "reformers" supposedly are; likely heretics like Luther if I am to guess. Your modernism is showing.

Thank you for explaining this and helping to solidify why I reject The Pastoral (and not infallible) teachings of Vatican II. 😮 what errors are through out. This goes against the Tradition of Holy Mother Church. This is a Modernist and Progressive version of Catholic Church lacking fidelity to Holy Mother Church. Pope Francis is in the seat of St. Peter and we don’t have the right as lay people to have a “say” in how we want the Church to be and where she is to go. Jesus is the head and he entrusts the Pope as the physical head not the people.

It is actually sad that we see only the good in what Constantine did for the Christians. I still struggle to understand how Jesus Christ could have given Constantine victory in a battle of power, which the church had nothing to do with. With the rise of Constantine to power, his mother began to build temples across the empire where the Bishops and the church elders will be stationed, something totally opposite to the mission commanded by Jesus. Instead of all the Christians to spread across the earth and spread the gospel, some felt they were too powerful to go to mission trips and were happy to enjoy the privileged offices which we politically connected. Someone should pose a question as to why did Constantine wait until he was on his death bed to be baptized into Christianity
