@miketurnbullmusic3 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for watching. I don't know if there's a chart for chords in GDGD. I've found them by playing a while and knowing chords using GDAD which is Bouzouki tuning. You can get books on those chords. Hope this helps?

Hi Mike thanks for the video's. Do you think this is the best tuning for tenor guitar. I'm using Chicago tuning, do you think the tuning you use is more flexible and easier for a novice to learn?
@miketurnbullmusic3 ай бұрын
Cheers for watching. The tuning to use is probably an individual preference. I like GDAD & GDGD as I play mandolin and mandola too, so tuning in these tunings is the same as for bouzouki but not too differentfrom mandolin. Chicago may be a little easier for chords as it's the same tuning as the 4 top strings on std guitar. So if you're used to that tuning it helps. GDAD & GDGD require a little time to get used to but they sound great. It's a personal choice really. I hope that helps?

Hello Mike - your stuff is great - I’m looking for resources for learning more about using GDAD .. other than tabs for Irish music - I’ve done some of that but not really what I’d like to play - do you know of a book? Or Do you have anything with tabs etc..?
@miketurnbullmusic6 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for enjoying the videos. I haven't updated them for a while, but I'm hoping to do more. I haven't got any resources, I'm sorry 😞 One thing that might be useful is to get a book on Bouzouki chords. They ate tuned the same - GDAD - and the chord positions will be the same, or similar to the ones I tend to use. I hope that helps 🙏

Nice approach - thanks. I have that same Ortega mandolin - left handed. Pretty good instrument although Ortega did not bother to use a left- handed saddle so had to have one made for proper intonation. The built-in pickup is convenient.

Fun stuff. My tenor guitar arrives today. I'm looking toward to playing around with your lessons. Do you have a favorite tuning that you play in most frequently on your tenors?
@miketurnbullmusic8 ай бұрын
Excellent! I sort of toggle between GDAD & GDGD tunings. Both are great to play around with. I suppose most of my stuff has been written with GDAD, but now I'm beginning to write more with GDGD.
@bilbowaggins30368 ай бұрын
@@miketurnbullmusic out of curiosity, what do you see as some advantages of GDAD over GDAE? Are there disadvantages? I come from a standard guitar background, so these tunings are all new to me.

Hi thanks for the video. You never said what double stops are but I am sure I learned something that I can use.
@miketurnbullmusic8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Double stops are two notes played together and they are basically a little chord of 2 notes rather than a chord of 3 or more notes. Hope that helps 🙂
