If I remember correctly, the Maçon blade was introduced in a rowing event by the germans. The blade was so efficient that everybody adopted it. The name “Macon” was given to this type of spoon in relation to this event.

This is an interesting version of the origins of the Macon spoon shape. Was the event located in Macon or was there another reason for giving it its name?
