Cannot get module to sound at all.... recognizes input and output but while using window driver "ASIO" only "ableton push" comes up as an option. From my understanding this is the driver option I should be using with windows. Any idea what I need to do to get this thing to function?

Much love man ♥️🙏 As I'm rethinking my whole worflow, integrating Ableton Live not only to edit my tracks but for jammin' live, your approach unlocked soooo many ideas. I already have the LCXL for mix and master, and was looking forward getting the ES-9 to replace my audio/usb interface. I have the same philosophy about having fun making music. It's not cheating 😅 And most of all, I'm french and understood all without translation. For that, and for your wonderful modules..Thank you bro.

Nice man. I also use bitwig and about to pull the trigger on the 37 or 49. I have the mk3 mini and like it but the keys are way too small. The chord and scale mode is also a huge reason i'll be picking it up.

Hello, I am interested in the capabilities of the LOCUTUS MIDI Mediator, specifically regarding the use of MIDI CC messages. Could you please let me know how many MIDI CCs are supported per channel by the LOCUTUS when interfacing with the Assimil8or? Thank you very much

Do you mean as a CV to MIDI or for sending controls from something into the Assimil8or? I don't really know but can tell you that right now, Im using 2 entire rows of jacks for CV to midi, so 16 total, and its working great. the other 8 jacks are still being used for CV to control the assim itself. Really loving that extra feature right now.

Most stupid thing I saw in a groovebox: All 3 synths engines are on the same channel! Meaning you can't mix them down in your daw or you have to only use one. Deal breaker. Thant and the unit can not receive program change via MIDI to change pattern. Not a good groovebox, AFAIAC

How would you incorporate a ‘standard’ channel mixer into a pick-and-place concept…? Because one could have multiple different sounds / samples on one track or lane. I guess the same problem occurs when streaming and mixing in the DAW like you do here, or do you get a separate stream / channel per sample or instrument…? Otherwise, if #Polyend wants to solve this problem, every step should have a ‘send to audio bus’ setting by which you could route the sample or synth to an overall mixer with at least 8 channels. STEMS and streams should obey those channel routings, too. You also use MIDI in your demo, which I think works a little different as your external gear could have separate outputs.
@alx-106
@alx-106 5 ай бұрын
I think there could still be a per track master mixer that would let you just change it as soon as you hear it. Chances are if I need to turn a track down, everything on the track needs to come down. Granularity is nice, but just a quick adjust over the track is what I am used to. The Midi stuff is helpful for sure for getting tracks. As you could see, I grouped a lot of stuff coming out of the play anyway, but having access to individual tracks is awesome for effects, sweepable filters, and quick adjustments for the room in a live environment.
@maikvanrossum
@maikvanrossum 5 ай бұрын
@@alx-106 yes, I totally agree on a master mixer. But if they would implement it, then hopefully in way that would preserve the flexibility of the Play sequencer, so not degrading it to ‘standard’ tracks.

Why do use modular at all in this setup? The polyend play sort of does what the Assimil8or does and Bitwig could probably do whatever else is going on right? This is a genuine question not trying to be a twerp.
@alx-106
@alx-106 5 ай бұрын
Mainly just interface and comfortability. Bitwig could really do everything but I’d rather use the play’s button interface and the Pizza for the same… assimil8or helps keep channel count down and such as well.

@@effiksmusic I can’t speak for Alx but as someone who gets on an airplane with musical instruments many times each year, I can say that the in-cabin luggage lottery is getting really insane. I’m at the point where flying business class is the only option that feels relatively safe in terms of getting an instrument to a show w/o checking it. Getting the instruments physically smaller for travel reasons is the only way forward.
@alx-106
@alx-106 5 ай бұрын
@@effiksmusic It's mostly an experiement at this moment to push myself in different directions and learn the ins and outs of other gear. I am also trying to figure out the perfect sweet spot for traveling. I fly a lot and am commonly at the back of the boarding line where they ask people to check their roller bags. I have actually never had any trouble with my 6U 104 HO Submodular case, even in these last one on situations, but the anxiety is real and I am looking for good solutions that I can recommend to others. This video likely isnt the way I'll do things as I really do miss Metron and Voltera even though Play is like 80% there... But for people that are using the Play already, I wanted to show how the USB streaming is working and hopefully give some itdeas along the way.
@alx-106
@alx-106 5 ай бұрын
@@GahlordDewald I fly a ton too, and am mostly in the later boarding groups so I am looking for backpack solutions to qualm my anxiety for sure. Another thing I just remembered about this is that I'm trying to make my system small so I fit on any table for any gig without causing any issue for the venue or other performers. Space has been a concern for the duo with Trovarsi, so anything I can do to sneak onto a crowded table is good right now.

Alex, thanks so much for the rundown! How do you deal with latency when using Bitwig as effects processor for the modular for short time based effects (like frequency shifter, phaser, flanger)...effects that rely on original and effected signal being under 20ms apart, but your Bitwig audio buffer is probably around 5-15ms?
@alx-106

I honestly haven’t done much with those types of effects but the latency is great and the compensation they have in clicks and hardware instruments make it really easy to dial in to where I don’t thing that would be an issue.
