Why, of course, Vietnamese food when you're in Copenhagen, makes no sense to me
@arthousecreations121 күн бұрын
Yes, most things I do don't make sense. It was late, we enjoy Vietnamese food, it was nearby. Some of the best Chinese food I had was in Italy. Also, sometimes there is a twist in the approach some restaurants have in different countries that is interesting to experience.

Other towns and cities in Denmark have much older buildings compared to what are usually found in Copenhagen. Copenhagen used to be a fortified city surrounded by bastions and a moat. The lakes in Botanic Garden and Tivoli are actually remnants of this moat that once surrounded Copenhagen. The pulling down of the fortifications and filling in of the moat started around 1860 and was completed in the late 1880s. Copenhagen suffered two major fires in 1728 and 1795 and these fires are the main reason why Copenhagen don't have a lot of buildings left that are older than 1728. In addition to the destructions by the fires in 1728 and 1795, Copenhagen was bombed by the British Navy in 1807 as part of the Napoleonic Wars where Denmark was an ally to France.
@arthousecreations13 ай бұрын
That explains why the older buildings are primarily brick. At least the Kastellet was preserved fairly well. There are several examples in the US as well where fires led to the wholesale rebuilding of entire city blocks like the Great Seattle Fire that destroyed the entire central business district of Seattle, Washington in 1889 or the 1871 Chicago fire. Of course that is almost a whole century later than what happened in Copenhagen. Thanks.

It may come as a surprise but the royal library garden was actually a harbor for resupplying of war ships up to the late 1850s. On one side, which is today the armory museum, used to be the armory and ammunition stores for resupplying war ships coming into the harbor. On the other side, which is today offices to the parliament, used to be the provision stores building for supplying of provisions (food, water etc.) to war ships coming into the harbor. Today, it is a tranquil garden belonging to the Royal Library.
@arthousecreations13 ай бұрын
Thanks for the added information. I am glad to see that some of the old buildings were preserved and renovated alongside some more modern structures. So interesting to me what happened to the old meat packing district which I'm sure had many different sights and smells back in the day.

"Getting Russian vibes in the area around the central train station." What??? So odd and random commentary. What does it suppose to mean? I'm sorry but you really sound just like some Kremlin troll on the internet. Especially cities with related historical events like Berlin for example. They really love to trigger and say "Soviet" "Russian" vibes all the time and think it sounds smart. And how central station area can give you these vibes if it has nothing in to do with Russia or Soviet? Dislike for that!
@arthousecreations13 ай бұрын
Sorry to read that you are upset with my opinion and the vibes I was getting while walking in the Rautatieasema area with the main train station to my back and facing all the large buildings with businesses with names like "Toimistohotelli Boffice Rautatieasema" and "Kauppakeskus Citycenter". The brutialist architecture is really prevalent in this particular area is is a prominent style of Soviet architecture in the 1950s to the 1980s. Of course brutialist architecture can be found all over, even in the U.S. But I'll stop now as it is pointless to have a rational discussion with most people on the internet, especially when they come off as hostile in their comments. Please don't watch any more of my videos as I am concerned for your mental health and hope you become well.

Is the EES system for African countries such as Algeria for short stay? Thanks friend.
@arthousecreations14 ай бұрын
No, it only will apply for Europe (EU and Schengen countries). For US citizens traveling to Algeria there is a tourist visa requirement unless entering via cruise ship or traveling to certain cities in the south of Algeria. Algeria has a current Level 2 travel advisory for US citizens (exercise increased caution). EU citizens also require a visa.

I don't believe it would apply in that case. The European Union's Entry/Exit System (EES) does not apply to non-EU citizens who have a valid residence permit or long-stay visa to live in an EU member state.

It does not apply to EU citizens or non-EU citizens who are legally resident or have long-stay visas to live in an EU member state. Otherwise, it will apply. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) applies to travelers entering 29 countries for short stays, including all EU member states except Cyprus and Ireland, and four non-EU Schengen countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.

We enjoyed the ferry. We had no issues with the trip. For the ferry to Mallorca we had a cabin but this time we just lounged in the airplane style seats. The seats were comfortable.
