If you come to Maine and hike where no one is around I would make very sure I was carrying bear spray. We have seen 3 bear this year. The is highly unusual. Hope you have some just in case. I am glad you're ok.

Glad you're okay... It was scary watching the video not knowing when it was going to happen!

That was a tough moment. I was in a great deal of pain. I wasn't sure I'd be able to hike the next day, but with the miracle of ibuprofen, I hiked again.

Hadn't checked on your whereabouts for awhile. I see you are back at it after some down time. What made you decide to take on this A.T. adventure? How was the NSS convention?
@DavidadventuresАй бұрын
I decided that I better stay on the trail and not go to the NSS Convention.

I first hiked on the AT when I was 4. I've hiked often on the AT in my teen years and always wanted to do the whole thing.

That's awesome, you got this!!!! If this hurricane stays on the current path we are going to get several inches of rain here in Sylva, NC.

Cooler weather is coming. Via tropical storm. It is already much cool in Southeastern VA, only 83 degrees. I guessed correctly that Kamala would be the installed Democrat presidential candidate before you left Virginia. I don't think she will still be around before you reach Mt Khatadin though. I just can't guess who it will be. It just won't be via democracy.

Hi David If you guys would like some help on some of the upcoming longer sections without road crossings let me know. I might be taking the grandson to NC for a few days on Friday of this week. He hasn't decided yet if that is something he wants to do.

You shouldn’t be hiking in 90-degree weather, sick or not sick. That’s a recipe for disaster

In 2018 when I was hiking benton mackaye trail I got some kind of stomach bug, I felt horrible for like 4 days, didn't make it to my resupply point before I ran out of food even though I had an extra day of food. Because of that issue, I now make priobiotic tablets part of my emergency kit. Probiotics are way better than like immodium and actually treat the underlying cause instead of masking it. But sounds like to me, the lack of energy and being tired you may very well be dehydrated so get you some electrolytes. Be safe and happy hiking, hope you feel better soon.
