Good story that adds to the great History Of Ducktown. I wish it would have given some additional context for the neighborhood roots. As an immigration story the Ducktown Neighborhood cannot be separated from St. Michael’s Church ,School, And Theater. No Church no culture, no Families, no great memories that you shared. Maybe another project for you!

What a heartwarming concept. A considerable amount of discovery work went into this inspiring exhibition. Only a sensitive and loving person could pull this together in such a cohesive fashion. Thank you John for providing a window into this thoughtful and thought-provoking exhibit.

Ironically enough, this vocal cadence is the same ones that I hear while watching "King of the Hill". Light, ever-pleasing, never angry, zero disagreements. Basically a grown woman using an appeasing child's cadence and vocal tone to not seem "to aggressive/angry/rude/disagreeing."

I enjoy your documentaries so much John! They really fill my well :). This news is very sad, indeed. It had me scratching my head when I heard you describe yourself as a "Pompous Ass" (PAFA PASS) and later a "Pompous windbag", which I know was just a dip in the doc volume.... but it made me chortle! You're never pompous! Your docs + eerie music give me so much pleasure! Cheer up dear friend. The news may be bad but your work never is. Nina, Waving from Toronto

Great movie. Do viewers know that you also composed the superb background music? Readers of this comment, at least, do know now! Your own artistry, Johnny boy, is itself a testimony to PAFA’s impact on your life of boundless creativity in so many realms!

John, what a lovely gift this is to Lynne. You are so thoughtful to have gone back to look at the edited video, and send her what was taken out. Very kind❤️

She knows how to load her brush and make a bold, summery, strongly yet unpredictably patterned statement. They have a vividness that isn't a fleeting moment captured, nor yet eternity. Looks like time slowed down just enough so she could finish her work and that work a testimony and act of appreciation for whatever caught her eye. I like them.

is it just me or was a lot of this artwork rather sub par? I was expecting a much higher level across the board.

This is a great summary of where America's oldest art institution stands, and the work it has traditionally produced. Degree or non-degree, it's a damn shame PAFA is in its current state of uncertain suspension. The artwork and the students appear to remain amazingly upbeat. And John, your optimism is just what the doctor ordered. Fingers crossed for a full recovery.

BILL MOYERS I’m willing to surrender, but how do I train my eye to look? SISTER WENDY You train it by doing it. It’s like prayer: how do you learn to pray? By praying. How do you learn to look? By looking. BILL MOYERS Well? And seeing what? SISTER WENDY Looking and waiting, and going away, and coming back and looking, and waiting. And if you’ve done that with sufficient earnestness, and nothing happens, no flowering within you, no sudden understanding that this is something magical and mysterious that you are now in contact with, then that picture isn't meant for you. Try again in a few years time. Go to another one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWTHaYZ3Z95phdksi=qJjEZzjB3vASHFlk&t=301

I knew Brett. He was a great teacher. And Wynn is a most gifted author.Gail was printmaker extraordinaire. Brett taught me to just nail the canvas to the wall and stretch it. It was Gail who he loved to the end of his life. A beautiful woman .

Martha's paintings are eloquently crafted. Wonderfully bold with beautiful shapes. One of the things I like is how she focuses on translating light and color into a unified visual experience. She really conveys the emotional and perceptual impact of her surroundings. Beautiful landscape paintings.
