For some reason, I'm just not getting this. Maybe it's just my sense of humor isn't tuned to this type of humor?

What are you not getting? For sitcoms - listen to the laugh tracks and see where the laughs are - maybe that will help.

@IntentionalActing I'll give that a try. Thanks.

It go's to show just how hard comedy is, I have been over this script and can't find a single funny line, I am going to practice this and video myself, as you said Ms Chadima and see how it works, wow, I have such an appreciation for TV actors now, just how good they are at their craft.

So don’t memorize “Now is the winter of our discontent.” You can always resort to falling back on improvisation and motivation.

GREAT advice. I just had a successful, highly successful run of a starring role in stage show and I did exactly what you’re talking about. All I could do is focus on the other person that I was speaking to. I forgot about me. I wasn’t even aware of myself and of course it was very successful for me and I’m grateful.

I found a way to memorize my lines as an actor according to reading to the script, but some projects don't have script. I have to listen the prompted orally by the director and I'm not a good listener and they get mad when they i do retakes because I'm not a good listener, even though I'm listening my lines and sometimes my mind thinks that there are some grammatical mistakes

I do stand-up comedy at open mic, but I tend to write out my material beforehand. I don't like improv. I like to write out my jokes beforehand because it helps my thought process.

That makes sense - it's a plan. The comedy tools are all about the delivery to get the laughs.

Very profound and wise in acting as in all aspect of real life the other person is always the most important. We should always be actively being in the other person's world.

Challenging when your reader is not there for to look in their eyes. very easy for me if I’m working opposite an actor, whether there be a class or a film or television show or on my stage work but remotely when you just hear the voice I have a technique that I use, but I it takes a lot more work than looking at a person a lot more imagination

For me I don’t need to do that. It happens for me instinctively and organically and it motivates me so I don’t even need to think about all those other things. my work with a couple of coaches who work instinctively in organically have also helped me with this and it just really really works for me and I’m in a project now where I’m in rehearsal and every rehearsal it just happens. I’m there. I don’t have to think about all that stuff.

@marayayres93 ай бұрын
I personally don’t use that. My instincts kick in automatically and takes me there organically. Then it is real for me. I’m starring in a very challenging role in a play coming up and that is what works for me. But I love all of your suggestions because you are wonderful.

I always love finding the moment before. It’s fun for me. I get to use an extra snippet of my imagination. I also love the very last dialogue if I have it my little moment afterwards just subtle or whatever or if the other person has the dialogue my reaction to it and I watch Hallmark films and I noticed that all of the actors do that and some of the films are so well acted and so well directed and this isHallmark. 👍

Hi!! I am auditioning for a Life Guard principal role. It involve saving someone drowning, and speaking lines while in the water.... How the heck should I do this?? I am usually very creative with my self tapes but i am so stumped on this one, especially when I need to lean down on one knee, jump and dive into the water, swim back with the victim and give lines while giving cpr. HOW can i do this on a self tape? Should I stay standing and just do it the best I can?
@IntentionalActing5 ай бұрын
That is insane Joe! What an ask from production! I always focus on creating the experience of the scene. What is the experience of saving someone drowning and dealing with water. I'd focus more on the experience than the very specifics. And quite honestly this sounds like you might benefit from a coaching - in which a coach could work with you and the script. I'm happy to help. Contact me through my website: www.IntentionalActing.com
