he probably has the 3.97:1 first gear ratio. that makes the engine spin about 4 times for every turn of the rear axle.

that is amazing how you upgraded the turbo in size,what are you boosting at on psi I'd like to know,have you done a Dyno on the hp please let me,I'd like to do the same,I use to have a Pinto but got rid of it,didn't think it was possible to do what you did on that car thanks for the video.

Did you keep the stock pinto 4 speed? I'm in the process of making a 77 wagon 2.3 powered fairly stock 84 tc engine, trying to figure out what fits and what doesn't case on point -stock bellhousing clutch 4 speed- turbo and manifold -oil pan

some people do put Volvo DOHC heads on these, but they came stock with a SOHC setup. the SVO was Ford's response to the BMWs and Porsche 944's of the 1980's, when high gas prices convinced people the V8 was on its deathbed. my how things have changed :)

Great idea good choice of engine I had a stock 1971 with a 2.0 my best quarter mile time was 16.89 that was in 1975 I kinda miss that car there are so many ways to make a four banger go fast now I don't miss the parts breaking I went through transmissions and rear ends but it was fun good luck with yours.

Must of had a manual trans. The stall wouldn't of been right on a C4 which i believe came in your year. They started putting in C3's later. I have a 1977 Turbo. your air intake would mount better going through the passenger fender well.

THE MUSTANG 2 WAS A 302 WITH AUTOMATIC EVERYTHING THE SHIFTER THE DRIVE LINE ALL FIT PERFECT THE STOCK REAR 4 LUG WAS USED AND I TURNED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS TO MAKE THE PIPES COME TO THE FRONT THAN UNDER THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER BUT THAT WAS TEMPORARY

nope, it's an OHC engine, the rods are good to 7,000 rpm stock.

Look up SVO vs hellcat. An 88 or 89 turbo 2.3 stang consistently runs 9.4 - 9.6 in quarter mile.... and waxes a hellcat in the process.

first gear was 3.97:1 ratio stock, there was a 3.50:1 for one year. So if the rear axle gears are stiff, yeah, its racing with a granny gear :) and then there's a bit of drop between the ratios.
