Uhmmmm… It’s understandable. The society we live in has projected an unrealistic beauty standard. Sadly, majority has accepted this fact and it’s affecting both young and old. You can start with showing her my video and let her hear positive feedback on loving your body. Hearing others apart from her mother speak about it positively should do a thing or two. You should also consistently tell her positive words to boost her self confidence. Try to sit her down and tell her how beautiful she is and how well she is doing. Let her feel appreciated too. You might want to show her public figures that has battled this negativity and came out positively. I hope to hear your feedback when the positive feedback starts coming. Till then, take care of yourself.

Very true! There are times and moments we forget these things because of real life situations and that’s fine. But we must always remind ourselves over and over again.

Distractions are a major issue for me, i'm trying to make it work

Uhmmm... This can be a major issue for most adults, reason being that we always have many things to cater to at the same time. There are several solutions to that though. You can have a jotter with you and write that every thing that seem to distract you while doing a task or the other. That way, you're assured that you won't forget them and you can always go back to them.

I feel like you cant stop procrasting just like you can't stop feeling love or anger. To me Procrastination is a good sign that you are on the right track! It always happens strongest before I start to work on a thing that is really important to me. Something that for the next week or month or year will not look like I see it in my mind. Something that I have to work for, fight the artists battle in the trenches and work that thing into reality What makes us procrastine is the mountain of work and the possiblity of failure. It's nothing bad and there is a trick to get past it easier: Make the mountain as small as you can. Just prepare your workplace. You're not gonna start on the thing. Just open up Word. Just go into the Garage and see if you got all necessary parts. See if you got all the pencils and paper that you need. Sort some colors, doodle a bit. You will do this for a minute and then make a coffee or go for a walk. Just a little prep for later. In 7 times out of 10 you'll sit there and do the thing for hours without stopping. And in the 3 other cases your prep made the next step easier. You'll start anyway and you know it

This is well said, however, you can stop procrastinating. Not procrastinating is not in doing all you’ve set your mind to do at once. It’s more In not sitting back and doing nothing because you think there is no time when you can start prepping for the big thing as you said. If you want to start something new, let’s say you want to write. Instead of procrastinating and saying you’ll write tomorrow because you don’t have inspiration to do so now, you can prepare to do so. Bring out your writing tools, set the table and yourself in the mood to write and brainstorm that even when you don’t end up writing, you did something that’s worthwhile afterall.

Knowledge of self is Power. Not being trained in a profession.
@ngozirbkokafor
@ngozirbkokafor 24 күн бұрын
Of course, knowledge of self is power. But that’s not the only power there is. Being knowledgeable in other things, even your work is power. It is one that can certainly boost your confidence if wielded the right way.

@ngozirbkokafor I appreciate your perspective; consider this. Being competent at any skill or task fosters confidence. With regard to competencies in the field of work, that job/profession can be ripped right out from under you at any given time, given demonstrable corporate conduct over the years, especially since they've all but eliminated unions. Power affords one a measure/degree of control. We the people have no such power in corporate settings, nor the world for that matter, re: the pandemic. Hence, my assertion in the original comment.

I do understand your point. It is well noted and understood. However, remember the saying that "Anything worth doing is worth doing well"? This should also play out in our work life, even when we are unsure of what will be the end. Since we don't have control over it as you said. The best we can do is to give authenticity and our all to the work so that the only thing we exude is excellence and that can only be done when you're knowledgeable in your field.

@@ngozirbkokafor you are talking about being competent and I might add, highly proficient. Both attributes are what conscientious people strive for in any area of life. One can argue that it has nothing to do with power, if one is equating power with the influence/ability to control outcomes.
