Beyer sounds interesting, different to SM57 which is the standard for a reason. I liked E906 in the mix even though it has a whistling resonance (especially apparent during sustaining chords) when soloed. Heil is too scooped.

Very cool. Honestly none of these were bad, just different. The 57 is a classic for a reason and continues to surprise me in mic shootouts. TG i51 cut through really well and I'll be paying more attention to it after this video.

Solid comparison. Thanks for giving us so many gain stages and throwing it in a mix too.

How does the beyerdynamic perform on clean ?
@kah2s3 жыл бұрын
Who needs clean? ;P I didn't include a clean comparison, because I think the difference of the microphones gets clearer the more you distort the guitars. It also performs great on clean guitars, but it isn't the "SM57-killer" as I read on the net.

Probably the beta 57 sound cuts through the mix much better than others... his sound is focused on guitar frequencies (mids)

Any "Pure cabinet" alternative to use in a DAW?
@ae87136 жыл бұрын
This is so so freaking cool. I'd LOVE to see a video of how you mixed/equed/arranged all the parts together in your DAW afterwards. Also, one quick question: Do you eq your microphone separately after they're tracked, or did you EQ your DI's before recording with specific microphones? Is one way better or more desirable than another?
@kah2s6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad if my videos inspired/helped others! About your Question: I EQed the tracks after recording. So I'm able to fine-tune the high- and low-pass-filters to better fit in the mix, e.g. when I add the bass guitar tracks.

Hi Stephan, ich geh mal davon aus dass du du Deutscher bist, da du in einem anderem Video mit einem Engl Powerball spielst (spiel ich auch), but if German isn't your language let me know and I'll type the whole thing again in English.

--> kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6i3aZKPj5WHj5Y

how do you hook up your audio interface to your reamp box? which cable do you use and where does it go?
@kah2s9 жыл бұрын
+sammichaelfisher1 The reamp box has a balanced xlr input, which I connect through a normal xlr cable to my audio interface. With the level-controls of the reamping box you have to play until you're satisfied - this way you could even tune your guitar signal if the guitar has too much/less output.
