Dry road and warm temps - the slick tyre up to temp is best (i.e. no thread at all, but slick is not same as bald tyre, so just don't confuse the two), Wet road - yes, but it is not as simple as just "how deep the grooves are". Good tyre at 5mm will still be much better than some shitty budget brand new at 9mm. So design and quality also matters. Most tyres do lose most of their wet braking/handling below 3mm. In cold it depends a lot on the compound of the tyre, not so much the depth. Depth is purely for pushing the water out, so that is just one of many aspects of the tyre performance. So yeah... I am not sure how much of "tire expert you are". Doesn't seem like you know even basics.

Isn't this feature for when you're parked on a hill to prevent you from rolling when you don't want to? I don't think it is used in a "heavy traffic situation."

Not exactly, the parking brake is what you would use when parked on a hill to prevent rolling. This feature is an automatic hold while the car is still in drive. When you apply pressure to the brake it will automatically hold it for you so that you don't have to hold it with your foot. It will disengage as soon at you apply pressure to the accelerator. Another use could be in a busy drive thru line!

@@OkayJose That's a pretty bad omission on Mini's part then. I'd think everyone would want the ability to do that since you can only see three widgets on the screen at once.
