j en ai eu deux des sm, les moteurs etaient fragiles, la chaine primaire se detendait et ca decale le moteur, ca venait du fait qu elle n etait pas assez graissee, le graissage c etait seulement les vapeurs d huile qui remontaient du carter, peut etre sur la bora ca suffisait, mais sur la sm il y avait la pompe hydraulique, l alternateur, et surtout la clim qui tirait tres fort sur la chaine en plus des 4 arbres a came en tete. j ai demonte le moteur 2 fois pour reparer, la deuxieme fois j ai f ait un trou et j ai insere en force un tube d alu qui allait cherche l huile dans la veine du groupe qui transporte l huile du palier du villebrequin au palier de l arbre de distribution, j ai arrose la chaine par ce jet d huile continu et j ai remonte le moteur, je n ai plus jamais eu d ennuis avec le moteur, j ai fait 150 000 km sans encombres a part que de temps en temps il fallait retendre les chaines des arbres a came, et regler la cassette des vis platinees. Moralite ce defaut a tue la voiture et les ingenieurs de citroen etaient des branleurs qui n ont jamais cherche la cause de cette panne.

La Bora n'a jamais eu ce moteur, c'était la Merak, et le V6 conçu spécialement pour la SM n'avait strictement rien à voir avec le V8 de la Bora...quand la chaîne primaire, ça n'a rien à voir avec le graissage: la chaîne primaire avait 2 problèmes: un tendeur mal conçu en premier, un sous dimensionnement en second car cette chaîne devait passer jusqu'à 25cv (entraîne également la pompe hydraulique, l'alternateur et le compresseur de la clim) et s'allongeait très vite (Regembeau l'a remplacée par une triplex), et les chaînes secondaires, sur l'une d'elles, le tendeur est sur le brin sous tension, ce qui est contraîre à tous les principes..., quand à "piquer" du débit d'huile, vous n'avez pas peur, car le débit de la pompe à huile est déjà un peu juste comme ça, et avec l'usure des paliers de l'arbre central (ce n'est pas pour rien que sur les moteurs améliorés, ces paliers sont bagués bronze...), la pression tombe très vite, surtout au niveau des paliers de vilebrequin ce qui fait mourir le moteur prématurément...Quand aux "branleurs" de chez Citroën, le moteur Maserati était de la responsabilité de Maserati à 100%, les "ingénieurs de chez Citroën" n'y connaissaient strictement rien à ce moteur...et vous utilisez encore les rupteurs à cassettes? ce système n'est absolument pas fiable, rien de mieux qu'un allumage électronique qui est en plus 2x plus puissant...

HOLY SHIT... I've seen this guy race before!!! People chuckled under their breath until they saw him get out of the car after DECIMATING the best lap by damn near ten seconds! It was at Cumberland Airport Autocross about '04/'05! Not in this car: some crazy-looking Lotus powered tube chassis & fiberglass contraption. I still haven't seen anyone drive that aggressive and skillfully... full tilt right until the apexes, brake for a split second, and violent acceleration to the next braking event!

Its so fast because it always has 300 horsepower and almost never has to shift, and the exhaust helps propel it too

Just a 4v maserati engine at what bhp? nobody ever really knows. Barchetta 285-310 Bhp. Karif 250 or 285 Bhp.

Hehehe, helicopter turbines are very light. Power to weight gives insane performance. For a long race advantage is lost because it might burn 30% more fuel than a 4 stroke engine.

why dosnt Maserati do smething with that barchetta that is one heck of a bitchen sounding car with a good engine, I would think maserati would have the finances to field two car's to run in event's like Alfa did yrs ago with thier 33TT12's, i think thier strong enough to hold up in endurace event's.
