I wouldn’t worry about that .015” it will get tighter over time. Some guys including myself have purposely set all 8 @ as close to .015” as possible as a target in performance 3rz’s. Woodward supply in Clackamas Ore sells the 28mm shim kits that go from 2.5mm up to 3.7mm thickness.

This is driving nuts, it does it randomly sometimes after vehicle has sat for a couple hours. I drove it all weekend pulling a boat trailer and had zero problems. When it did it today, the motor was still warm, did it for 5 minutes or so; only does it around 1,500 rpm not at idle. When it does it it will mostly happen above 1,500 but I never have gone above 3,000 rpm when this happens. I think it is the vvti pin; see link to video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5i0aYSnjdSne80si=cqziTdSsRMTEfRiN

Did you clean the MAF sensor? High idle is usually a vacuum leak, dirty IAC valve, or the throttle cable is not released all the way when at idle. The ticking from the charcoal canister is the purge valve. That is normal operation.

@@jimrossabrena7955 it’s been so long I can’t recall. I had flipped the throttle body gasket around on a reinstall and that left a gap at the bottom and a huge vacuum leak that was causing all kinds of misfires.

@@frankvallynot1 good question, I have a lot of those gaskets sitting around and one didn’t fit well, so I tried another. I do think they are though. @@iansullivan3533 are you daring me or seriously wondering? I am perplexed by how many turbocharge vs supercharge. I am thinking to do a gear reduction and arb locker first, telling myself that is the better overall upgrade that will yield more fun in the woods and on the pavement. The other upgrade I really want to do is to do a manual transmission swap but finding the wiring harness has been tough. Money is a problem to make it happen right now, the engine rebuild was done on a whim and it probably came out to 5,000 after all the parts I replaced. But yeah I want to put the 8 lb supercharge pulley on it.

And yes the 2 3rz trucks I've currently got and all the other ones I've messed with have a little more crank pressure Than I thought was acceptable at one time. I think the concern is from dudes with clapped out diesels only knowing that one thing to check. Bracket on the dip stick tube is in it's correct location but needs to be rotated towards the coils. A plastic clamp clips onto the bracket & holds the wiring harness running in the front of the coils. I broke my clamp & have been searching for the part # replacement from toyota with no luck to date. I have the harness now secured to the bracket with a zip tie but my search for the correct clamp continues. The elusive plastic clamp is similar to the plastic clamps securing the wiring harness that runs along the right side (exhaust side) of the valve cover, the same harness that is secured by the bracket on the dip stick. Hope this makes sense & helps

@craigphillips1047 She'll be getting the correct gearing ⚙️ soon and 1 tons, so finally the right gears, but around another 1000 lbs of axles, I don't care for speed, I built my First Gen for offroad, I'm going to be making it slower with F350 axles and from 38 inch tires to 40s! And lower geared t-cases. She ain't winning no races, but a little more power on road would be nice, I recently installed the LCE header and I love my super dependable 3RZ, my friend said to me the other day "You should do a LS swap" I said "That would be a down grade!" Why would I put a not as dependable motor In my truck, and remove a far superior motor? Especially that even stock I can offroad all day in 90+ degree weather with the AC on , in black + trails, for something that would probably overheat and blow up? I was a Jeep guy, but after driving my Toyota for a few years, through all sorts of obstacles and NY horrible roads, I ain't going back to the Jeep garbage! I'm driving Toyotas for life! Best vehicles made!
