I had the very good fortune of being at the Vince Gill & Friends Ryman show many years ago, and his Guitar Slinger record hadn’t yet come out but was about to. Vince said “I’m gonna play one off the new record.” Sat on a stool and played “Bread & Water” for what he said was the first time ever. I’ve seen countless shows at The Ryman, and have yet to experience that kind of silent respect for an artist. It was UNREAL!

I disagree with Gladwell about it being easier to make people laugh. Its all contextual. Try making people in a funeral wake laugh, or someone who is strugglung with 3 jobs, or someone who us down on luck. Similarly try to make people in a comedy club cry. Both are impossible in their own way.

Monopoly: Malcolm Gladwell Edition. Hasbro make it happen! Of course the tokens would be exclusive to this edition.

Vince, you created a perfect third verse for this song , the song is very beautiful, I can see singing that third verse is still very emotional for you

"How many more suicides will it take for the Church to re-evaluate how we read the Bible?" is the immediate question that popped into my head after I finished watching this video. Very important/substantive topic of discussion More clips like this, please!!

I'm so grateful to Dr Lee C Camp and the team making these podcasts. I was raised as a white Evangelical and had fallen into the pit of resentments to be found with right wing talk radio for a few decades. My local church by then (mid-2000s) had been totally consumed with rightwing politics instead of Jesus. Thankfully I am also a regular listener to my local public radio station. Some weekend 4 or 5 years ago while running weekend errands I stumbled on your radio show (before the name change). It was an episode with Robert P Jones then later Kristin Du Mez. The kindness I heard in Lee's voice, the insights into the pain caused by white Evangelicalism, and learning there were better ways to love our neighbors kindled a very welcomed hope for a better day. While I am no longer a Believer I do so greatly appreciate the love which comes from everyone's hard work at NSE. There is nothing small about your positive impact.

I will always love Vince Gill. How can they ignore the homeless it breaks my heart but can give so much money to things not are needed and countries that are not needing it. And they are not ashamed..Pray and pray for others and who are suffering. One day soon we will see our Lord Jesus.

Everyone wants that: it’s the deepest longing we all have but you have to give it up if it means compromising and selling your soul. And I say this with tears.

Everyone knows racism is just made up in this country today have you ever been honest what does an incredible amount of money that's funneled into it and nobody wants to turn that faucet off specially the ones making tons millions of dollars the black families need to have father figures good father figures in them they need to have a good sensibility about what's right and wrong wouldn't hurt them to read the Bible and go to the Sunday School they have more opportunities than most white poor people and this is true sadly there about 12 and a half percent off the population and yet they are 53% of the hard crimes and murders something is terribly wrong giving people money doesn't solve anything it actually makes them worse when they blow it on drugs and women and everything else now they're broke and on drugs not a very good combination some of them will say we can't put that father back into this family it only cost more problems which is true in a lot of cases if I was a black mother I would see my children got the best teaching of the church 10-day weather at least have a foundation 1 to be successful and contribute to society and most important their children
