Nice to FINALLY see a video of this piece that shows the female chorus, but they should have slowly closed the door to them.

Hi! Can anyone share the score for *this* version of the Quantz Trio? I find similar ones, but not exactly this one. Can anyone share the pdf file or link with me? I can't find it on the web, especially the piano version

Wish I knew more about this orchestra and how they were able to pull this off. When I first started watching this video, I thought it might be a student orchestra, then listened more and was shocked at the level of expression. Of course it doesn't hurt that this is an exquisite piece, one I have loved since hearing it for the first time at an Emanual Ax concert. But as another commenter said, if we could only have serious music in the classroom at a younger age, I truly believe there would be better educational outcomes and society.

I don't know why everyone talk about Yuja Wang version. Its not the best music to Yuja This pianist is more sensitive and expresive than Yuja. Best historical versions are Pletnev, Serkin, Czifra and Thibaudet. But this is a great version. Tempo at 3rd mov is perfect. Bravo!!

Dimitri Bashkirov his Mendelssohn piano concerto no 1 with The Finnish Radio Symphony video from 1989 is the best! Bashkirov had the best piano sound! Best tempos! Melodies rolling the best way! The bad Mendelssohn players are Really=Yuja Wang(awful typewriter!) Marc Andre Hamelin(Cyborg Human machine) Pletnev(too cool) Serkin(raw rough) Thibaudet(weakest) Perahia(thin colorless dry piano sound) Emil Gilels(too heavy!)

It was a good effort on a.very difficult work! My only two comments are that much of the music felt "rushed" and whoever did the mix was terrible... Some of the soloists were drowned out by instrumentalists and others had their mikes so low that they couldnt be heard.

I wouldn't say Mahler was a one-hit wonder but I think this is his best work.

@brevardmusiccenter Thank you so much! I thought it's tomorrow. I'll try to work on application this weekend. Is there bussing from Charlotte? Is it far to camp? My sister said it's 3.5 hrs to Raleigh. Situation is, I need massive financial aid...:(.

So happy that Dean found his calling as a director. A while back we were both cast in an opera , which had it’s roots in the European vaudeville tradition. One day behind the scenes, after rehearsals, he asked me about some dialogue I had during the second act of the opera. I thought it was going well in rehearsals, but after Dean made some very specific suggestions to me about timing and then asked me to do the lines again….it was like a lightbulb switched on in my head. From then on my performance changed. I really started having fun onstage because the audience was reacting to what I was saying. They were also laughing for the first time during that second act scene with the dialogue. Where before there was nothing, now there was an interplay between the audience and me which sort of had a ripple effect that changed the performance… well at least my performance anyway. Thanks Dean!
