@tedzehnder961Ай бұрын
First, what energy compresses the air and where are these pumps located? If anyone that has seen the movie "Jaws" sees a bullet hitting a scuba tank in the shark`s mouth which turns the shark into sushi. Imagine a bigger tank that gets compromised in an accident under your behind. No wonder the prices of cars are exponentially more expensive today, they have these multi million dollar salaried presidents running the company into the ground. If they could engineer a petrol power plant that used 80% of the fuel`s BTU and scrubbed the CO2 they`d solve the energy problem until Fusion generated power comes along ?This idea has as much a chance to be a success as an air powered engine. Or, how about a rubber band powered car that catapults you along from rubber band station to rubber band station?

I wrote a paper in college in the 70s entitled "A Hydrogen Based Economy". The paper showed that hydrogen could replace gasoline in existing storage and delivery systems. The problem at that time was the efficiency of extracting hydrogen from water, using more energy than it produced. That was 50 years ago.

All water engine inventors for the last fifty years have avoided talking about the real source of energy in this process. In fact, all the energy comes from the battery electricity producing the electrolysis of water to extract hydrogen. The energy required to extract this hydrogen is much higher than the energy delivered when burning it in an internal combustion engine. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZXXf5Ssj92YZ9k

Apart from all those conspiracies mentioned. I propose a little detail avoided from all those inventors: where does the electric power to perform water electrolysis come from? How many kWh of electricity is required to extract hydrogen from water? See: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5CznXR7rpJ9ndU

@@corellian2011 Either the battery replacement system becomes standardised, in which case all other manufactures get the same advantage without the R&D, or it doesn't, in which case Nio has to build a massive network of expensive stations at their own cost. If the formula works, wont BYD just copy it? They're already profitable, and well placed to adopt any to-be-proven tech at scale. Nio might be showing the future, but I do think they'll be it.

IMHO no company will take Teslas's place for a simple reason. Tesla is a cult. People buy a Tesla for the same reason people buy iPhones. They like(I don't) IPhones and no amount of reasoning will change their mind. I have a Tesla. My second one. I won't buy any other car. The technology, the minimalist style, the power, FSD, and the superchargers. Nothing will ever come close.

I won't buy a tesla , a friend has one and the quality is appalling, nio sales are growing month on month , and tesla market share is shrinking month on month , they have just put a 100 percent tariff on nio for usa to stop them destroying tesla car sales, I am in UK and will wait for a nio ... better looks, top quality, top service, better technology, battery swap or charge , no battery worries, and would never have a fixed battery poor quality tesla

@@MManStock Some people want that option; just as some companies use the software subscription option in order to get access to new release of the software and the included maintenance/support service. Best of both worlds. With Nio in China, one can charge in the conventional plug-in way or swap. Hypothetically, imagine all the petrol (c. 8300) stations in the UK were to be converted to Battery Swap stations, with the option to plug in charge also. No more range anxiety than an ICE vehicle currently. Currently Nio have concentrated expanding their infrastructure in their own country which currently has cerca 2,400 swap stations and 23,000 charging piles in about 3,700 charging stations. Nio also has access to over one million third party chargers. They have a much smaller infrastructure in Europe with I think, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany having some swap stations. Once NIo is profitable in China I expect them to gradually go international. It's a no brainer, the health of the battery is Nio's responsibility. No battery degradation. Whilst other EV's age, so does the locked-in battery. Rendering poor secondhand value. With NIo, one always has a fit for the purpose battery, with technological improvements over the years.

I wonder how battery swapping impacts the national grid. Like why haven’t we got battery swapping in North America? Seems like such a better system to just roll up, swap the battery, then keep going.

Tesla looked into it a long time ago, but decided not to go down that path due to the huge costs involved. This was at a time when they were still not making a profit and facing bankruptcy. Understandable I guess, but this is the better solution. Oh, and as for power grid...these swap stations can store energy and sell back to the grid (tesla do the same using their storage tech)
