I just came across your video. I purchased one of cameras and received it non working. I used your video to disassemble it and found an issue with the black on/off button at the rear of the unit. I found the micro switch that this button contacts breaks the two solder joints and the switch bends in a way that turns it 90 degrees from the base of the black buttons contact point. You may have to use a magnifying glass to see it as it is so small.Unfortunetly the switch itself broke apart and I could not resolder it back into place.This problem must exist on all of these with this micro switch. Just pushing normally on the black on/off switch is enough to break the micro switches solders and render the switch inop.That switch was assembled to the board on a CNC machine. It would have been difficult to resolder back into place.Hope maybe this helps someone with one of these units.The micro switch is visable at 1:15 in your video. It doesnt appear bent like mine was but the solder joints that secure it to the board may be broken. The mounting pins of this switch should have been of the type that pass through the board and are soldered at the bottom for added support.Thanks for the video.

Thanks Mike ,you saved my bacon! I did your futzing technique, power on /off moving stick in a different direction each time. After 6,7 times my 7 code reset and I was back in action ! Thank You !

THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. I have a jazzy select chair I got second hand. I am having the same problem. Even though they are different chairs alot of your video still rings true.. The only main difference is the capacitors are in the control box instead of being in the joystick. I just ordered my capacitors. :)

These kits will self destruct if they are not lubricated. Air ratchet and cordless impacts will do them no harm if they are lubricated.

Same problem. Still trying. Before complete lack of response the cam often said low battery and shut off even with new regular batteries, so trying to find and apply fix whole using lithium battery source. Complete failure to respond when new battery type tried, but unsure if that's when it broke down completely

Slide hammer works great to remove that hub before you take the knuckle off the vehicle.

Wow, I see a lot of comments thanking him. I dont think a lot of these people realize what they are seeing. This guys work is going to result in a pretty quick bearing failure.

I have that problem with a 2007 Odyssey and you are absolutely right, I am one of those people who try to solve mechanical problems in our used cars, to save a little money since repairs in a professional workshop are very expensive, very good

look for a reset button or there may be a reset sequence like holding one of the buttons down when powering on or a combo of buttons. Action cameras lock up like that all the time. Also see if the manufacturer has a firmware update or bootloader online you can download.

Cutting out the stake is not necessary. A hammer and punch is all you need. Or use that special tool. Insert the punch/pick horizontally in the groove, tap it with a hammer until the stake is removed.

Thanks for your video and ideas, I'm stuck at 7 flashes code stage. I don't have capacitor in my joystick control board. Do have any suggestions to bypass the 7 flashes. I tried disconnecting joystick cable from the board and reconnect it again, nothing change.

I would not want to work in a shop with you. I've never heard anyone complain so much about doing mechanics work. Every single thing that you've needed to do on this repair, you spent more time complaining about it than actually doing the work.

I did this exact repair. I used a sewing needle to open up the holes for the capacitor. But come to find that the actual culprit was the white wire under the rubber grommet had melted where it touched the other wires causing the short and code 8 error. A little electical tape and it was fixed. Problem solved. Thanks for getting me there at the least part of the way.

The bigest mistake is to press in the hub without or failed to support the inner bearing ring of the new bearing ! That is why the new bearing was destroyed!

I just did one of these. I found it easier to purchase the bearing and entire hub assembly as one part was a little more than the bearing itself. Much easier no bearing to struggle with pressing in and out.
@lawrenceanderson6167

I can't see how you could press the bearing past the machined stop in the spindle. You press till it stops. Also, when you press the hub into the bearing, you need to make sure you have the back up on the inner race so you do not press out the inside race.

I have watched many repair videos - and I absolutely love your no-nonsense approach and went straight into things without a big dumb introduction. Also I appreciate the shade-tree style struggles you have presented, everyone always makes this little things seem non-existent when you know they totally are. Anyhow, I commend your authenticity and loved the video and appreciate you sharing the knowledge and labeling your segments. Major Kudos to you man.

You know you can use a pitman arm removal tool for the tie rod end and it’ll save the boot and also if you take a center punch and hammer to the center of the axle shaft once the bolt is off it takes like 10 seconds to get it loose. I’ve done this job so many times it’s ridiculous and this fella is taking the long way around the fence, but thank you for making content that may help someone.
