Awesome! Bob was one of the last of the old school to never SHOOT-TALK. Only critique is interviewer moved off some great topics too fast. 1984 title change 4 one. He read the book - we didn't. Just saying "gotcha" and "yep" and moving on to next Q. . Bob's likes to pause so he would have said more if the interviewer kept quiet or fed some follow ups. Still a big treat though!

When will the day arrive when somebody can conduct an interview with a Professional Wrestler/Sports Entertainer without the word "shoot"? It's the year 2016. There are no interviews labeled, "Kayfabe Interviews" so we are these interviews still labeled, "Shoot Interviews"? Please lose the term, "SHOOT" from discussions with Professional Wrestler/Sports Entertainer's. It's completely unnecessary and annoying.

not only one of the great wrestlers but many say he's the nicest most gracious man. As a heel or a face, an epic talent. Cross face chicken wing.

bob backlund was a great wrestler but he was boring , its not to put him down but he was better as a heel unfortunately for him and bruno as well as pedro their style came to an end after their heyday it was all about gimmick and entertainment

Bob Backlund was also an underrated heel. His heel turn on Bret Hart restarted his career and he had a lot of classics after that

Mr Bob Backlund was a fantastic heel! Glad he was so opposed to the heel turn in previous years because I felt it came at the right time. The only thing I wish was done different was if they had left the belt on Backlund for a few more months and let him lose it at 'Mania. Everything about the Mr Bob Backlund gimmick was gold, even tho some people who were kids then are just realising it now. It was a golden gimmick, Bob flipping on Arnold, the history of it all, the towel and then the towel match. All great stuff and we'll executed by Backlund. Just think that's where Vince dropped the ball. Spent a few months building the Mr Backlund character, he him defeat Hart, who was as over as a guy can possibly be. All to lose in 8 seconds at a FN house show. It's just one of those what the fuck moments. Backlund deserved more during his heel run in 94-95, no doubt.

In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazine racks across the nation. It was Pro Wrestling Illustrated. When the first issue went to press, Bob Backlund was what is now the WWE World's Heavyweight Champion. He was also ranked at #6 in the Most Popular Wrestler category.

seeing the video image Sid could of been Sabretooth in the 2000 XMen movie. All he would of needed was the fangs. His Sid Vicious/Psycho Sid gimmick would've fit in perfectly.

What a great listen. Thanks for sharing! My friend and I met Bob a couple of months ago at a local sports store. He was so polite, humble, and down to Earth. It's so refreshing to meet a guy like him who lives the life of the straight and narrow and does things the right way in a profession where so many of these athletes pollute their bodies with drugs. He's now 66 and still going strong and he looks great. I highly recommend his book for any wrestling fan out there and also for parents who want to give their kids a meaningful gift for Christmas. They will learn a lot by reading it!

Hennig was underutilized by both WWE and WCW. He was a fantastic heel, he could cut a damn good promo, and he was one of the best wrestlers to ever grace a ring. He should have been a top star, but alas, he never held the heavyweight title even once. What a shame.

Great job!!! Thank ya so much, for posting this up. Yea World Class was such a hot bed for some great wrestling, back in the day. I remember the Freebird-Von Erich & the Jimmy Garvin-Chris Adams feuds real well. I also have the WCCW dvd set added to my collection to. And if that's not enough, I also, to this day, have Garvin with the rest of the Freebirds in my NWA & there feuding with? Who else? Yep, you guessed it, the Von Erichs. Just like old times. But it sure is fun though. We'll be in the ring tonight, for a big house show in the Dominican Republic. Plus a PPV on April 27th And yes, I still have the TBS shows on the weekends the stars vs the jobbers. Just like old times. I've been doing this for 30 years now. As for Flair not giving Jimmy a few days off when that awful storm hit, Hey Flair, stop being such a douche. Jimmy had a catastrophe to deal with. If it had been the other way around, JUST WATCH HOW FAST FLAIR WOULD BOLT. And no one can say he wouldn't have, cos its only natural. Flair = DOUCHE.
