I don't see anything wrong with him. He's playing to win and enjoy it. That's who he is. The media and "stars" just want to use him for their agenda to make the sport "popular" in their way, which they're not doing a very good job of. They just want to capitalize off him more.

Uh, to the MX world, Jett is special, generational, and likely to leave his imprint on the sport much like the MCs and RCs. This whole "public popularity" means something to you guys who want to grow the sport to fill your pockets. Growing the sport hasn't done much positive to the majority of riders since the 1970's. We have much less land to ride on, limited tracks, and much higher initial investment required to ride, much less race. So, who cares about Jett's commercial worth, other than Jett, his family, and the hangers-on who want to ride his coattails to fill their own pockets. As a life-long rider/racer/fan, it doesn't mean a damn thing to me.

This Video completely missed the real problem with our sport. There is multiple fundamental problems that sits at the foundation of it. Besides it being Risky for a child learner and a "Rich mans Sport" meaning your average family doesn't have 10k sitting around for a bike/ race endeavor that may never bare fruit (sponsership/money)...the main problem is JUST BECAUSE A RIDER WINS THAT DOES NOT EQUATE TO MORE BIKE SALES OF THE BRAND HE RIDES... That is the same reason why SUZUKI hasnt spent money on Research and Development in 25 Years...Yamaha pretty much put out the same bike for 15-20 years, occasionally changing a thing or two (mainly color/Graphics lol) The KTM trio puts a Ton of effort into R&D and they are kinda Terrible at getting a bike on the box since they changed the Chassis (except they have Sexton now so he has been making the best out of it), This is also the same reason GEICO HONDA and Joe Gibbs Racing went under... Winning a Championship takes a HERCULEAN EFFORT , and it doesn't really change anything. NO Return on Investment...it just isnt a wise investment choice for a business to bleed millions for very little return. But, with guys like DEEGAN, not only does the kid have skills , he has a HUGE following and it could very well sell more Yamahas. I think they are going to "cultivate" more athletes in the future that have INFLUENCE like Deegan. But that takes TIME. And there is one more thing haha....Most guys that ride dirt bikes are not sitting around on Saturdays waiting to watch a race on TV, or cooking in the hot sun ...My friends that I ride dirt bikes with at least twice a month have NO IDEA who Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan is haha...We actually get pissed when the outdoor National comes to our home track because we have to go ride at a different track... I did go to this last one because we had 4-5 chicks with us that wanted to lay out and Tan...so we went with the flow . Televised Racing and the people that go to the races usually are just spectators and have never put a foot over a bike in their lives haha that is the huge disconnect...and sad fact.

My family has seen Jet multiple times at amateur races.He was very polite and positive he even held my daughter up with a bum foot so she would not have it stood on be everyone. I believe he is a very talented and humble person.

Pastrana is an action sports icon. But if you’re talking about the actual sport of SX and MX I’d say James Stewart pushed it into the mainstream more, arguably. He had a whole TV show on MTV, Bubbas World. It was on at 7pm every Wednesday night or whatever. Everyone knew Pastrana and associated him with freestyle, x-games, and even Jackass. But James made everyone understand the difference between xgames and racing. Mainstream looked at Pastrana as a spectacle. James showed the athletic sport of MX/SX

I don’t WANT our sport to be the next NFL, NASCAR, etc. it’s a niche almost, that draws a certain type of individual. I think a key point (or turning point) you missed in this little film, was maybe round 2 or 3 in SX this year where he had the run in with Anderson and it appeared the whole industry, riders and fans started shitting on him. Like Anderson's Instagram had all the top riders commenting that Jett is a cry baby and lots of fans also jumping in on it. So its kind of understandable he went quiet from that point, some of it was his own doing but still having all that toxic reaction to every one of his actions will take its toll. Back in the Pastrana days there was not the same social media.
