When i was 9 yrs. Old my friends and I walked down to the local theater in Anaheim and saw on any sunday. I walked out of there knowing i had to get a dirtbike. Few years later i got one and i never wanted to do anything else after that first ride. I'm sure thousands maybe millions thought the same after watching that movie so im sure this will do the same to millions of kids today

I'm only 13 minutes into this, and it seems like this fancy Hollywood guy wants to throw the working-class Stewart family under the bus for pulling out of this project. James was quoted in the media at the time saying he did not like the way they portrayed motocross and its fans. The Stewarts faced a lot of racism over the years, and my hunch is that they made moto fans and the industry look very racist (there is some racism in the industry). It is my belief, that in reality, the Stewarts were unwilling to destroy the reputation of the sport for money, and that is highly commendable. (This is just my theory, but based on what James said at the time, it tracks).

I've heard Sam tell this story quite a few times and, while I feel his pain in not seeing his vision through, I've always felt that he and everyone involved were actually incredibly lucky that this movie was never made as a feature. There are just too many ways for Bubba's story to go off the rails by trying to run it through the filter of a big-time Hollywood feature production. For one thing, James's story, while compelling, isn't unique within the sport, save that he's a Black racer. Anyone familiar with motocross in the US knows that Bob Hannah, growing up utterly dirt poor in the high desert of California, arguably overcame far greater odds than Bubba in his to rise to the top (and winning six major championship titles). And, honestly, Danny Magoo Chandler's story is actually much more compelling on several levels: a life filled with world-class racing success and soul-crushing personal tragedy, a story that would showcase the sport while appealing to a much larger audience than only hard-core motocross fans. The list goes on. And regardless of the production team's talent, I believe a feature film would have turned into mush-- a spectacularly mediocre After School Special trying to walk the line of delicately addressing the taboo racial issues in the sport. IMO It would be much better done as a documentary in the spirit of the film Senna. Sam is an accomplished documentarian and I wish he would look seriously at telling James's story using his considerable documentary filmmaking experience. Heck, I'd do it myself but I'm low on cash and Tom Cruise won't return my calls! 😀

It's the racing organizations that are killing the sport. Like the FIM and all It's b.s. rules. Davey Combs and Feld sports suck! They are making it more expensive than ever with little returns to the privaters. If the sport is going to grow it needs to be back on regular television. Not peacock. Jett is doing his job. So, lay off the kid.
@EnduroManic3 ай бұрын
Not anything to do with Jet. Blame the fans of the sport and social media who went out of the way to run him down. He was a happy fun guy winning races yet he was criticised by the haters a “LOT”, as was his family. Social media reporters who continually would post speculative content about Jet and family, list goes on. After copping the bs, he obviously had enough, so has gone under the radar. As for pickle ball and other sports referenced, you can’t use them as a comparison, as anyone can play that game in any suburb, cost nothing to play and is easier accessible by the masses, but u don’t see main stream tv showing pickle ball, do you. MX, Supercross is like F1, not everyone can do it, it costs a lot and is restricted to specific race tracks, stadiums, which cost more money to set up. Knowing this, it then falls on the association, sponsors, marketing, media and social media reporters and key decision makers to grow the sport effectively, you don’t blame a kid and his manager. It basically comes down to those who are sitting at the top managing AMA and other related companies around the world as to how best to make the sport more accessible. Hell, Jet brought in more fans in his first year than AMA could ever wish for and he continues to do this. Reference to David B, may I remind you it took years for him to get the global notoriety he has to day, and remember he was playing a sport which is the greatest and biggest in the world, soccer and married a spice girl, very different to MX. Think about it!

Jett is indeed bad for the sport. No doubt. The dufuss dazzy is deplorable. Chalk it up to the $$$. There gonna get it while the gettin is good, period. Hunter has a better personality but he doesn't have the hollywood effect. Can't blame a guy for his genes. The best thing that can happen now is for the two brothers to start legit-competing for a championship, like a dirty love-hate brawl. Drop the family-first persona on TV and create the drama that draws in the seedy human nature we all have. The other fix? Deegan. Once he drops a belt on these guys it changes everything. That already has the love/hate element built in.

28 races of the AMA costs £32.00 to watch on a streaming platform! Thats why these sports are dying (spectator wise), The wrc has the same problem. Remember these sports used to be represented in the mainstream media for a reason but greed eventually has gotten in the way and now no new young viewers are ever gonna see it unless they are mx lads themselves and convince their dad to get them a subscription
