For 65 cover if say only $4500 cover a month it would be at least $21 a week. more for tradies. So at least $1000 per year. Now let’s say you invested $1000 per year in standard stuff. Spread out you’re likely to get at least 7% return on stocks. Even if you’re terrible at it. So you’ll pay $136,252.04 over 30 years. If you’re good at it, 10% overall.. $240k. May be worth less by then but still it’s a lot. Whereas a 5 year insurance costs you $4 a week. I’m thinking 65 might not be worth it though I do have a bulging disc issue I’m worried about. Do you still think it’s worth it at almost 40 with one child? It would probably end up costing me $60k I’m the end I think for 37 or so to 65 I guess. And the biggest concern is all the loopholes they can exploit to not payout. I feel like the odds you actually need 30 years or 20 years cover and the insurer actually pays that seems nearly minuscule. Where as 5 years gives some security.
