I guess I'll turn on sports mode to increase revs and drive for around a half an hour. P.S. Turns out, exhaust temperature can be higher on lower revs, so better check out instructions first.

Instead of having this troublesome filter system, couldn't you just theoretically tune the truck to run a bit leaner to burn off more of the unburnt fuel?

Yes, this is used for smaller diesels like the ones you see on new Skid Steers and equipment. They don’t require a DPF since the engines have been tuned to run clean. Removing the DPF significantly increased my fuel mileage and I know my truck will last longer

⁠​⁠@@sp4youtubeno, diesel always running lean and that makes EGT cooler, so less wear and tear. Rich AFR diesel increase EGT temp, means higher combustion chamber temp, it’s quite opposite of the petrol engine

​@@andikappradana The EGR is for NOx abatement and the DPF for soot filtration. The whole idea of the EGR is to reduce the combustion temperatures at peak NOx formation, but the tradeoff is more soot formation. That's what I meant to convey.

​@@andikappradana The EGT leaving through the exhaust pipe is cooler because of the lean nature of the exhaust, i.e. more CO2, N2, O2 etc. The gasoline engine exhaust on the other hand are rich in HC, and have a much lower O2 content, giving them relatively higher EGTs compared to the diesel engine exhaust - perfect for a TWC to eliminate NOx. It's the fuel economy that makes these gasoline engines inferior to diesel engines ... 🖖.

At 40 below, my fuel is going to be jell-o, my radiator and block will be frozen, my battery will be dead, and my tires will be froze to the ground. If it ever gets that cold, I won't be worried about the oil in my gearbox. I'll be busy fighting the polar bear for scraps of whale meat!

My Suzuki with or without gpf has the same oil recomandation. Btw, a3/b4 oil has 1.6% ash level, c3 has 0.8%. Not a big difference.

The video has half truths. Any Lithium ion cell is inherently unstable and once heated past 70 °C is at risk of going into thermal runaway. The cell can not be extinguished once started as the cell will provide all that is needed to continue the burn reaction. Yes they will burn under water. Water is used to try to stop the spread of cell by cell detonation and fire expansion of 1200 - 3000 °C. A cell must exhaust all of its chemicals before becoming a non-fire risk. That is why a battery can self reignite later.
