Just stumbled upon your channel in the algorithm somehow. Liked and subscribed before I even watched this video, simply from the content and the fact that you are a fellow Aussie based RC enthusiast like myself. Gets repetitive listening to American/European RC Hobby channels 🙄

I’d knock that end plate off while it’s out and advance the timing a few degrees! No load on the motor set power supply at 4-5v tops! and advance till it’s screaming and done! Never do this with a higher power motor at full voltage if you like your fingers! Then install and run it on 3-4s and once it’s completely melted or exploded replace it with brushless lol! Nice break in btw!

Great job explaining how to install the servo saver screw, it can be something else to do.. As for the servo saver lock-nut, I set (all) mine the same way you did, brass tube flush with the opening. Great video and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!!

Nice job mate... But I hope you won't need to buy a new kit... Loctite 242/243 is generally not considered safe for use on ABS plastic, as it is primarily designed for metal applications and can potentially damage or weaken the plastic due to stress cracking, especially when used on threaded connections with significant stress involved; always consult the product data sheet for specific compatibility information before applying it to plastic materials. This stuff has an oil/fluid that forms as it sets, that's the part that eats ABS plastic... Just a heads up and good luck.

@@SkippyRC I get it mate and I understand, none of my vids are live but I should of done a live feed when I took my Clod swimming... That warning is straight from the Loctite label and/or website. I used Loctite 242 (same thing as the 243) back in 1989 on my 2nd Clod build and less than a year, I'm buying parts trees to replace the radius arms (I use it on the ball studs for the lower shock mounts). At the time, I was working in an auto shop and that's what we had. This is a known problem to builders of Tamiya kits. Just trying to help you out brother.

Smart move with the steel pinions man!!!! I don't build a Clod without steel pinions, even with stock Clods. Adding a drop of oil on the motor bushings, another smart move, Plus that's a great tip for new comers.. Great Job!!!!!

Nice correction man... The steering isn't all that good on a stock Clod but there are things you can do to get more steering from it... On the knuckles (D1 & D2), you'll see "tabs" that hit the axle tubes/hub mounts, you could cut those tabs off and the knuckles will turn a bit more.. Also, cranking down on the servo saver nut more than what than manual states, just a bit more, the steering won't feel as "sloppy". Good luck with the gear boxes and keep an eye out for that pesky 3mm nut that goes into each gear box. Are you going Box Art or something different?
@SkippyRC
@SkippyRC 2 ай бұрын
Thanks again for spotting that, I will leave the steering standard for the first few runs and see how I feel about it, I also have a servo on axle kit and a rear steering lockout to try. Yep I spotted that 3mm nut, I didn't miss that one.

@@SkippyRC No worries mate, just some old tricks from years gone by... I had a BTA (behind the axle) steering servo kit on my race Clod with rear steer lock-out, all those aftermarket steering kits seem to work best with a wide off set of the wheels & tires. Ha, glad you spotted that nut, its a tricky bastard of how they show it in the manual. If you decide to change the motors, don't use Sport Tuned or Torque Tuned motors from Tamiya as they don't have zero timing.. I know how you feel man, lost my mom a few years back and in Jan 2024, I lost my dog, losing my boy really messed me up, I still feel his loss, It still hurts... He was a Black Lab named Booth, he made it to 12 but cancer got him.... Nothing could be done.

Hey mate, the top steering link on the servo should go to the front gearbox/servo saver. The way you installed it (as many others have, and a friend of mine did too), it will cause steering throw issues and/or binding. Just a heads up.. Look real good at the manual again..

Great job so far mate... I just finished my Black Edition Super Clod Buster (still need to paint the body). I just say Clod, cause that's all they are, but with the added chassis braces ugly 4x4x4 grill and the dumb super charger ( I use the smaller air catcher instead), different colors & stickers. If you haven't seen or know of @MarkBryanRC & @robbrennanrc, go check them out as they built their first Clods about a year ago. Also, take a look at @TamiyaTalkRC if you haven't already.... He just built a tribute Clod from a Black Edition kit, looks killer.

@@Paul__FC Yeah man, seen it in the Clod scene racing them 30 years ago... I don't know if Loctite change the formula, And I'm not willing to chance it. After knuckles breaking, shock mounts on the radius arms breaking or any other spot that stuff touch Tamiya plastic, it was either broke or about to break.
