The question is can a School require a Weekly 45 minute Collaborative Planning (Every Week)
@troyniskey775

In terms of our Planning Time, my question is, we have 90 minute periods - is it true that we get Two full Plannings per week/ per content; for example English 11/ 2 plannings and English 12 / 2 plannings per week? Ultimately, I am trying to determine if it is possible for a School to mandate weekly 45 minute Collaborative Planning Meetings? It seems like a lot.

Improving instruction means keeping the class size to a minimum not the maximum.

Gwendolyn Evans-Orange - I enjoyed being part of this conversation. It offered a platform of awareness governing school safety, and was a great opportunity for teachers to connect with PGCEA and to know what is happening in the schools and communities. We need to have more conversations about how we can support safety measures in schools.

I wish I could have faith in a system we envision but never seem to achieve. I have seen many good, talented teachers leave our schools in my 20 years as a teacher because of a loss of faith that things will ever get better; in the classroom, and with our relationship with the board of education. They don’t know how they have affected the overall morale of our membership with their disassociation and real lack of understanding about what it takes to create an affective classroom learning environment. They system itself is disfunctional. The Science Department is still without a curriculum! It took three years for Social Studies to engage and activate its online curriculum! Who runs a school system like this? Who thinks this is good? Ask a teacher. Who was the genius that scheduled JA Finance Park, Literacy Task, Post SLO tests,and other misc tests with the end of the quarter when teachers should be concentrating on review of curriculum and grades? And when will we finally put an end to PD which is insinuated into our Planning Period? Does Admin not think we can regulate our own time? We need to push back on sooo many levels! Ugh! I’m tired. I’m going to lie down now. Signed , disheartened.
