2:43 watching magicians do crazy fancy shuffles is cool, but there's something so reassuring about seeing a magician who you know is really skilled with cards like Teller shuffle cards in the simplest way like any regular person would

I'm no magician but I enjoy trying to figure these card tricks out. I honestly have no idea how he did this but I suspect the trick happened around the 3:50 mark. Notice that even after Teller picked his card, he continued fanning out the cards in his hands, and then controlled where the card re-entered the deck. How the rest of the trick works, I have no idea

Tie your hands behind your back and get penn and teller to do the trick and STILL not know how it’s done. That’s your next assignment. Well done on this one.

I'm not a magician but this is how I think the trick was done. I have not read this anywhere else.: Once Teller selected the card. Boris takes the two of spades card back and places it in the 3rd position somehow. Before Boris gives the cards to Teller for a final shuffle, he palms the top 3 cards and lets Teller shuffle the remaining 49 cards. After Teller hands the deck of cards back to Boris, the palmed cards are placed on top of the deck, giving the illusion that the selected card has been shuffled around. Depending on what number Penn chooses will determine how Boris goes about fishing for the chosen card. Let's say Penn chooses 50. In this case, Boris would start dealing from the bottom of the deck and the two of spades would actually turn out to be the 50th card with no sleight of hand tricks needed. Penn happened to chose #3, which happens to be where the card was placed. Again, no sleight of hand needed. If Penn chose 15, then Boris would have to keep skipping the two of spades card by dealing below it. When it gets to 14, then Boris would grab the two of spades that he kept skipping.

Penn and Teller are the ones doing the trick, for the audience. Teller positions the card at 4:36, Penn of course chooses 3, as they already predetermined. Reality TV is fake as it has always been.

Sorry to ruin your theory but Penn & Teller do not know in advance who is going to show up on stage. They discover the performer when his or her name is announced at the moment of filming. They do not meet the performers in advance and obviously do not set up anything with them beforehand. In my case, I greeted them on stage one minute before we started to film when they sat at the table. They had no idea what I was about to perform and I would have never wanted them to know since I really wanted to surprise them with Penn's deepfake voice that has been created specially for my act. So no they did not assist me in any way in my act. I did everything by myself... like a big boy ;)

I'm 99% sure I know how he did it, and his methodology is tricky, and he must have practiced an extraordinary amount to do this. 1/2 the trick he does while looking away at 3:42 and half the trick he does at 4:39, 4:39 is the crucial part. Now it's not like I can say 'he did this, then he did this, then he did this, this is how it was done' but after analyzing it a LOT, using logical deduction, and narrowing down the possibilities, this is the most likely result. look at his composure during the majority of the trick. 95% of the time you can tell when a magician is 'doing the trick' and when 'the trick is done' by their calmness or anxiety. If they are anxious and they are moving quickly, they fidget, etc etc the trick is not done and there's more to come. But look. From 4:40 to 5:52 when the cards are handed off, he's completely relaxed, he has no nervous movements, darted worried eye movements, hand gestures to distract, nothing. The trick is done. Before I knew how, I knew the trick was long done by this time. Next, he never even once has nervous hand movements, quick reactions, nothing, even while doing the trick! Some of the only indication is his eyes. At 4:36 he has the same eyes as a coyote or a snake. It knows something, it's hunting. He hasn't yet done the trick, he is waiting for something else. Even when I first heard it, it striked me as extremely strange at 5:14 how calm and out of breath he is. The way he said 'so (pant)' always stuck out to me. It makes sense now, he knows the trick is over, he's overacting to sell the story of the joke, but he's exhausted and he wants to show the big reveal already, mentally he's tired of the routine and wants to move to the final part. Further evidenced by 5:18-5:21 being so slow it's like a written part in a movie. So slow, so calm, so perfect, there is no longer a trick, just a reveal. If you were a sleight of hander, you would never move this slow. So now that you've seen the circumstantial evidence. What can we deduce. It's not sleight of hand. At 3:57, the perfect and only time to do sleight of hand as many many people incorrectly suggested that he palmed the card, his left palm is totally revealed to Teller. 0% chance he palmed left hand without Teller noticing. 3:59 to the camera, right palm is completely revealed and it's empty. So the only time he could palm it, he didn't, and as I said his movements are so slow at 5:18 that sleight of hand was impossible. Not sleight of hand. For me that only leaves 1 option: marked card. Do I know how it was marked, how he read the mark, or how he presented it so well? No, no clue. It is a fact that he forced the card onto the exact position at 3:53. This position was determined as the ideal position earlier that I mentioned 3:42 after Teller took the card, for some reason he continued to fan out the cards until he had a marked card ready to be in position for 3:53. Finally, at 4:39 for a few frames you can see after Teller gave him the 'perfectly random cards' he peeked at them fanned out to find his marked card. Now everything was set in place. Everything I've said up until this point makes sense from a technical standpoint, the only problem I had believing was how 3 was the perfect number, because I established SOH was impossible. Someone online mentioned a few times he was so surprised that Penn said '3' because that was the perfect position. Statistically it's highly improbable that he had the card in the perfect position already. He knew what card it was, we established that, but he didn't have to do *any* hand work to force it to the right position, which is just astronomical luck. I do find it hard to believe, but that's why the trick worked so well. It seems like a miracle because it is. If he actually had to move the cards around, then it would be any old card trick and P&T would point it out immediately. This was done after lots of independent research so most of the ideas are not my own, I did not find this stuff on my own, I don't even still have the sources for the people pointing out the crucial moments of 3:42 and 4:39. After this, I hope someone can understand it much better. I am not a magician and I don't know the proper terminology, this was the best I could do. The acting was perfect, the comedy of the routine was perfect. For a long time I had no clue, and it was like solving a Sherlock riddle to figure this much out. I hope it helped.

There is definitely a control card used. When Teller picks the card (2s), watch the magicians hands.. he is shuffling his left hand down along the deck to locate the control card. And that's where he cuts to and places the control card on top of the selected card. As for Penn's free choice, I don't know. Multiple outs maybe. But Penns choice seems too perfect. It's an amazing trick if Penn is not in on it. Probably the best card trick I've seen.

Problem with this trick, is that even if we say he use control card and that he knew the card and the fact card mechanics can control cards and put the cards anywhere they want and even if the last bit was just a coincidence and he got lucky that Penn chose 3, there is still no way to explain this trick and I have no idea how any of those moves could have been done. Although I can't see it, I can deduce how Xavi's performance worked, how Dani Ortiz worked, this one I got zilch, not just for the trick but even individual parts of it. Like, first, I know he could use a key card and ask teller to put the card on top of that one. but then, he square the cards without even looking and immediately hand it over to teller to shuffle, So I have no idea how he could know the card, but then, how he puts it on third spot, after the teller shuffled. He could have palmed the card and kept it in his hand then put it back on the deck after Teller shuffled but not only there is zero video evidence of it, there is zero move from his part that magician should pull to enable them to pull the move in the first place. I got nothing. This is the only one card trick that I absolutely have nothing.

@@futurethinking at the end of the day, its a trick. the producers know how its done so it can be explained. what we cant see is one continuous shot of his hands as he handles the cards. the cut-aways to penn and teller's faces can hide sleight of hand tricks you would have seen had the editor/director not cut away. the producers saw this so they cut away to break your concentration.

Nice magic... unfortunately its on screen, that means you can watch it again and again... visually beautiful - but of course i guess there is a very material thing beyond.... i guess in this situation Boris put a mark on the back of the chosen deuce with his thumb, when he got the chosen card back from Teller - and Teller was his helping assistant team mate - Teller recognizing Boris's marked card while shuffling carefully the deck - observing the marked card - when Teller shuffling the deck, Teller recognized the marked card - he placed that very card onto the top of the deck, then handled to Boris and Boris, when received the deck, placed the Top Chosen Deuce to the bottom of the deck (very nice slight and Teller stare and admire that hand and movement with smile.... he is a fellow comrade magician) ... But the key moment was not on screen (to get the deuce the 3rd place) This is only an option - myguess - i think that was a gesture from Teller accepting the "dance" i mean teamwork.... bringing back historical magic showing to the recent world - respecting the "uniform" and history and magician heroes - coz old school magic has died, since social life takes place as EGO on internet... i'd have been happy to see this act in the Real Life only... not online... actually real magic used to need a team... many cases needed assistants ;-) and that is a beautiful human thing, coz magicians is for audience only, to entertain and fill their life with happiness and mistery. .. do not forget magicians are teampayers - our happiness is their victory.... but only - observing their beautfiul acts in ONLY Real Life on the Stage! ....unfortunately that golden age has been gone... that is why i started my monologe with "unfortunately".... i am sure this is one of the most amazing and beautiful teamwork between comrades... teamwork for oldschool audience... i am sure they worked together.... for us...
